I've been in this over a year now.

If anyone is looking for a small cap exploration play with a good risk/reward profile I strongly recommend this.

There was a recent share offering giving HDY the financing needed to go forward with drilling this OCT. I mention this because I think the dilution dip presents a great buying opportunity.

HDY's concession is just north of some Anadarko wells on the map below. Its on the same slope, and its a million acres bigger.

Tullow has also had success just north and south of HDY's Guinea concession.

HDY is going to drill 2-3 quick shallow wells, prove some reserves, then see what kind attention the majors want to give to their BIGGER deepwater prospects. New MGMT has done a great job so far.

I expect the shallow 3d data to be released by the end of ***april - mid may. Signed rig contract and first drilling locations are also PRs on the horizon.

Today and early next week, may be the last we see below $5....I hope

***EDIT- We learned today the 3d data will be submitted to a third party (NSAI) for evaluation end april- mid may, with the results being released in JUNE.

Yep, not a fun past few days.

I bought more at $4.25. I would continue to accumulate a long position at these levels if you can.

Fundamentals are strong, leadership team is strong, they have the support of the ROG gov. Shorts simply have a hold of price right now.

Its a volatile speculative small cap stock, investors just have to deal with the short term manipulation, traders can try to capitalize on it.

By "fundamentals" I meant everything other than the short term "technical" supply/demand trading pressure.

HDY has no income yet, so if that was what you were looking for, look to their assets. A large concession with solid prospects in an area with proven reserves. You can dig into the details of the existing seismic data at hyperdynamics.com

There has been significant development in the area of HDY mgmt and political stability of ROG over 2010. The project has been significantly "derisked" and they just recently raised financing to move forward with drilling plans.

If anyone has specific concerns or questions I will do my best to answer or find answers, as I continue to follow closely. If you want a general picture of everything going on I would recommend doing some DD on all the existing info first. The fact sheet is the best place to start.

Just because there are seeps in the concession and very good 2d prospects does not mean they will not drill a dry hole...we will soon have a better idea of probabilities when we hear how many wells will be drilled and see the 3d data. If you want to stay on the sidelines until then, that may not be a bad idea.

Bad day for energy stocks. HDY down 6.4% to $3.96. I've been watching this from the sideline for a while. Probably going to wait for oil prices stabilize before doing anything. If oil runs down to $90, maybe HDY gets beat up more...

Last week someone long out there took a 1 million share position or $650k option obligation, with a lower boundary at $4.00.

I'm really tempted to grab some, but I think we're headed for some down times for the market as a whole, and October is a long way away. Hopefully there will be time to grab some later.

That article was written by some random insignificant fool contributor named Isac Simons.

His analysis on HDY is a joke. I would suggest reading the comments to his article where you will find shocking corrections and critical omitted information.

Isac actually writes in the comment section about learning of the share offering that he either didnt know about or purposely didnt mention because it contradicted his bashing headline:
"The fact that the company has raised $125 million is definitely good news"

Its beyond me how that article can be taken seriously with something of that magnitude being left out.

I'm not going to waste time picking apart his article. I will say that a pathetic effort like that amounts to nothing more than an attempt shake down retail investors to cover short interest lower.

There is still large HDY retail ownership, and by the comments of RobLud it is apparent even a pathetic article like that is capable of influencing rookies out there who know nothing about how boutique websites like the fool, seeking alpha, ect work.

It's funny, the article mentions KOG which is at $6.90 now. I bought KOG during the crash when it was around 50 cents...and sold it a little later for a few hundred dollars in profit. Very much kicking myself in the pants now.

Ill put it like this:

Ray's pay day is at $9 per share.

Blackrock looks at HDY as the next Tullow. The reason they like small companies who "operate themselves" might be so they can buy them out cheaper.

My main concern with price this low is that we never see the first spud and HDY gets bought out before October between $10-20 per share.

A takeover below $20 upsets me because of the huge upside potential of the oil province.

Do what you want, but please at least understand what is going on in the short term. Low budget journalism by the fool is funded by short interest and possibly big sharks circling hdy for a takeover bid. Its sleazy, but just the way it works.

These are not professional analysts working for reputable firms. They are fool contributors who forget to mention widely publicized share offerings, then refer to it as "good news". The fact is that fund raising was OLD NEWS publicized weeks before Isac Simon posted his 5th grade skid mark article.

Drill or Bid, everything else between now and then is BS designed to shake down retail (trigger stops/margin calls/panic sells) and pin down price for lower offer/takeover bid.
