from article: "The guy she was with ran away."

what kind of garbage writing is this? the guy she was with? America has been dumbed down a LOT if this passes for news copy in the third largest city in america.

Don't get me wrong, we're probably moving within the next few years to get into a single family home vs our townhome and more space.

But to counter your point, walking distance to memorial park and buffalo bayou (and countless smaller parks), arboretum, easy access to the zoo, museums, etc. Good daycares, our zoned elementary school is pretty good also (memorial).

All true but at night on Washington, it very different. That's getting much worse. Someone was shot at Clutch just a few days ago. There was a gun battle on Lillian Street. We had a such a great time living in RM, but holy crap I wouldn't be walking down Washington past 10 PM anymore. I used to all the time.

Why? The clerks at places like that aren't exactly prone to being much of a threat to fight back and those wedding dresses cost thousands. Probably a way to sell them for pennies on the dollar fairly easily. Probably not much cash on hand either. Clientele prone to have some nice jewelry and what not as well. Soft target. Just a guess though.

looks like both these robberies were after hours.

I have to agree with Swimmer that the market for ill-gotten wedding dressed is probably pretty illiquid. Are they getting the "demo" dresses or the custom fitted inventory that happens to be on hand? In either case, it's not ideal from a resale standpoint.

Seems like a lot of work for limited gain. Better to steal copper wire.

There is a reason they are targeted. Probably selling them to a shady store elsewhere who doesn't mind having stolen goods. Seems like a perfect racket for mobster types in jersey

With all these robberies and burglaries going on, and the pawn shops "being scrutinized" (lol) I imagine the flea markets around town, especially the bigun in Pearland, have all got to look like Costco with all the new **** they've gotten in the past 6 months.

Vito Corleone got his start selling stolen dresses and made so much money he killed Fanucci to keep from having to pay tribute.

inside job or for insurance money?

resale for wedding dresses is lolbad and its not like this is a super famous/popular designer..seems like it would be super easy to track.

it's not like you hear about wedding dress shops being robbed a bunch. we had some gypsies stuff like 7 special occasion dresses in their skirts a few years back at the baybrook location..but actually trying to bust in? not worth the effort.

50k to the designer but maybe 10k to pawn. optimistically.

I dunno. seems just as likely he owes someone money or something. or insurance money. nor a cash business and not good resale.

Glad the magistrate set such high bonds.

In probable cause court, a magistrate set La Mitchell's bond at a combined $28,000, while Gonzales' bond was set at $15,000.

$28k bond for the driver, $15k bond for the passenger. Oh yeah, and it was the driver's third time to be busted stealing a vehicle. But those bonds seem reasonable. I guess she would have had to kill one of the kids in the car she hit to get something as crazy as a 6-figure bond.

You can almost guarantee they're both back out on the street for less than $500 out of pocket. Meanwhile there are at least 3 innocent people with vehicle damages that likely total more than the bonds.

But I'm sure the judge thinks they were entitled to borrow that truck because they just a few vunnables.
