I saw a tweet earlier that the match in Baku had only 10k people in attendance vs. 31k capacity because of all the issues with getting in to Azerbaijan for foreign travelers. But at least UEFA got their money under the table

Why did they play in Baku? Is Azerbaijan even in Europe? I thought it was in the Middle East.

It's right at the dividing line of west Asia and east Europe, but pretty much all the former Soviet republics are in UEFA regardless, even Kazakhstan.

Do y'all not remember the disaster that was the 2019 Europa League final. Arsenal v Chelsea and only like 2k-5k fans could make the trap because of how far, how expensive and how few flights there were

Italy going aggressive early, perhaps too much so with a couple of offsides calls already. Spain playing more conservative and methodical. It's fun watching two great teams with such different styles of play.

Good preventative reffing there. The Italian RW just committed his 3rd foul. None have been horrid but he's at his limit. He got the finger count 1-2-3 that's it.

On the flipside, Italy is swarming Spain anytime they touch the ball.

If the Italian forward had gotten the ball off his foot quicker, the player waiting had a relatively easy finish.

Oyarzabal has missed two good chances. He was completely wide open on that beauty of a pass from Pedri and had a terrible touch.

Spain needs better finishers. That is really holding this team back.

Felix Brych. He's probably top 4-5 in the world. He is working his third straight game and that's very strange. Even more so because he did BEL-POR and it was a total **** show. This was a very political assignment.

Ok. That might be the game I was trying to remember. It was a complete s-show, as you stated.
