Yes. And the Swiss just lost a second to accumulation.
And what a dumb way to get a yellow, kicking the ball away when there was no break on

I hate it when either team slow plays the kick, overthinking it.

Swiss must have used all their luck up, harsh red but ultimately they still had a fair chance to win it in PKs

At least this tournament has been entertaining. 2016 was a snooze fest.

Not disagreeing that they had to play so many minutes over the tournament, but there's a reason a lot of teams take PKs at the end of grueling training days.

IMO, it wasn't any harder to take them when you are exhausted vs fresh. You are either good at taking them or you arent, you either handle the pressure or you can't.

Back to back PKs, this one being down to 10 men for 40+ min. I don't know you can really practice for that

Scissor tackles from tue side or behind are nasty things and endanger the safety of a player. This is pretty close to the tackle that just took out KdB. In any match below a professional one that's a red all day long.

It was not a scissor tackle. It shouldn't have been a red card in any league.

So you are ok if someone tackles you like that? Not just once but twice? Because a yellow says "you did it once but don't do that again" and it tells every other player they can do that too and stay on the field.

It wasn't a pretty tackle. In an adult league there would be punches thrown over that kind of tackle more often than not. We just aren't used to it being shown red especially if you watch EPL where anything short of a broken leg or torn ligaments is mostly ignored.

1. I look at it from a player perspective. I played at the collegiate level and when I played, that tackle was considered clean. No yellow, not even a whistle. I understand things have changed for safety reasons, but as a player, I just want to be able to win the ball. Swiss guy won the ball and was rewarded with a red card. Back in college and 20s men leagues I played in, that would have been a hard clean tackle.

2. It was not a scissor tackle. Those are possibly brutal and can definitely warrant straight reds. If you want to give a yellow, I'm cool with that, by today's wussy rules.

3. If I were to play now, which I still could if i wasn't on the road constantly, I would never slide tackle and would be very pissed at someone making that play in a SEEMINGLY MEANINGLESS game. This game is huge, it's not meaningless. It shouldn't be decided by a ref overreacting to a hard tackle because the tackled player acts like his leg was severed.

4. As a ref, you should wait as long as possible to give a red card. This ref should have given yellow and let VAR review it. When you act quickly as a ref, you are sending a signal to players that aggressive flopping and overreacting will be rewarded. Horrible for the game.

I reffed a lot of games as well as a kid for side-hustle money.

this is Belgium's golden generation. Once a couple of these guys age out, they may not be FIFA ranked #1 again for a long, long time.

Belgium's bench today is better than most teams.
