I live in a nice suburb neighborhood that happens to have been annexed by COH some time ago.

I went to the local Walgreens to pick up my kids prescription at 8pm last night. I was there for probably 30 minutes waiting on them to fill it.

While waiting I saw a guy filling a trash bag with Zyrtec, the 45$ a bottle stuff. He then moved onto another area, and then another area, and did the same. Clerk at the front of the store didn't even notice till the alarm went off. Left with a kitchen trash bag full of high dollar stuff. Didn't even bother to run or put on a mask/hood etc. I asked if they call the police and they said they don't even bother. They aren't allowed to do anything per policy.

TLDR, Get your free stuff at Walgreens

To be honest, I think regular folks should be able to intervene, up to and including deadly force. Theft like this is going to impact prices for health products, which can definitely affect the quality of care for people who are poor or on fixed incomes. That kind of theft needs to be curtailed, and quickly.

You think people should be able to shoot people over some Zyrtec that isn't even theirs?

Yes, because it will only get worse, and we're the ones that will be paying the consequences. It's always the law abiding citizens that get shafted. Police won't do anything, stores won't do anything, and we're stuck holding the bag. In this case it's paying more for stuff in the store since we actually pay for stuff. Declare open season on hood rats doing this, and they'll start to think twice before pulling **** like this. These people have no fear of consequences now, because there aren't any.

There's a big difference between someone shoplifting a box of Zyrtec and someone walking out with kitchen trash bag full of crap they didn't pay for.

So at what dollar value do you think people should be able to kill a shoplifter?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe the same limit as if they steal from your house?

I'm pro-gun but thinking you should be able to step in and kill someone over shoplifting is absolutely asinine.

Someone down on their luck who makes a bad decision (as long as that decision isn't directly affecting the life of someone else) doesn't deserve to die. Some of you cannot be serious right now.

Nothing about the post I replied to or their response makes this seem like hyperbole. Clearly this person wants to be able to shoot people stealing stuff without any consequences...as long as it is a lot of stuff.

If I am wrong and it was hyperbole they can feel free to correct me.

I wasn't responding to you regarding the hyperbole. I responded to texasaggie2015 in my quote.

People wouldn't have to be vigilantes and doll out justice if the law/judges would do their job.

Of course you're here defending the vunnables. Of course…it's voters like you that have helped to turn Houston into what it is and continuing to become.

There is nobody on here defending criminals. Not thinking vigilante killings should happen didn't used to be a radical idea.

And I didn't vote for Lina or any incumbent Democrat judge in 2022. I recognize we have a crime problem and wish our judges would hold these people accountable.

Yes, it is hyperbole. Although, in theory, don't know how it would be much different from shooting someone who was breaking into and stealing from your neighbor's house.

What I would really like to see is law enforcement actually enforce laws instead of creating situations where law-abiding residents pay through the nose to cover loss for grocery stores, pharmacies and other businesses.

No breed mentioned. I'm sure it was a breed that was always a sweet baby and never bit anybody before.

You guys are John Rambo only in your minds.

If facing a situation where your life is not in danger (like someone stealing a bunch of Zyrtec), you wouldn't do sht.

To kill 'em?

Tree fitty

Anything under that, I'm just going to blast one - or both - of their kneecaps out so they can't run away before the cops get there.

Reading comprehension is lacking in your statement. The question asked was, "You think people should be able to shoot people over some Zyrtec that isn't even theirs?". My answer to that is yes. I never said I'd go around doing that, because like I also said, we're the law abiding citizens.

I don't know man...that sh** p*sses me off beyond belief. These are sociopaths who care only about themselves. I'd be really tempted to physically confront them or even follow them out and slash a tire or two while loading the loot before they can get away, and then call the cops. Yes, I realize this is probably not "smart". Neither was putting my gun to a guy's face who was punching on my truck window years back, but it worked like a charm.

There have been many videos of bystanders, and even store employees, whooping thieves asses during robberies like these. People are getting fed up.

Seems like more for sure. Suicides in general too. I think the last few years did a number on a lot of people.

I've some neighbors - renters - who break into a loud latenight domestic every couple weeks (that I know of). Walking outside last night and hearing them go at it, I wonder how long before something really bad happens there. Never see them outside, but damn sure hear them.

Sounds like a couple that used to live catty corner to us.

During the summer months of 2020, after we had gotten through the "honeymoon" phase of WFH, I would take almost nightly bike rides through Oak Forest. I heard tons of domestic disputes during this time and some were genuinely scary. Sometimes 1-2 streets away and you could hear it clear as day. There were a few times where I wondered if I should try to see which house it was coming from and call the cops, but decided against getting involved.

Men and women weren't meant to be cooped up in small homes together, day in and day out. Domestic disputes went WAY up during this time.
