Sooo Taqueria Rancho #4 next door to High Times on Gessner at Bellaire was robed last night. Went table to table taking wallets, and brandishing what (later) turned out to be a fake gun.
Gets ready to leave. Customer stands up with a very real gun, fires several shots, and bad guy is dead.
Everyone, including the shooter left before the cops arrived. HPD wants the shooter to contact them for a statement. (At this point I think hard pass there) bad guy hasn't been identified.

Very stupid for the shooter to flee. This is where LTC training can help. They spent a ton of time giving advice on what to do if you ever find yourself in that type of situation where you had to use deadly force.

I get that it's a formality to talk to the guy in a situation like this, but they better not try to pin anything on him. Our law enforcement agencies are increasingly riddled with braindead bleeding heart libs, from the fed, all the way down to the local level. I half expect HPD and black girl magic to throw the book at this hero. When in reality, he should be given lifelong season tickets to the Houston sports team of his choosing.

I wouldn't say it's a formality. Someone is dead. Yes, it's the bad guy and I'm happy about that. But the police absolutely should talk to all parties in any case like this to make sure they have all the facts. Even more so since the dude fled.
