He still won't even take Corpus off the list.

Water is the most important thing to have secured for hurricanes.

You ever heard of people filling their tubs with water ?

Most of the Mets (and amateur Mets) on S2k seem to think that the NHC is initializing the center of Laura farther North than what's actually shown on radar. Which is why you see an eastern shift in the forecast. The farther south it actually is while it's tracking WNW is worse for Tx.

I don't think it'll be anywhere past bolivar in the extreme. At this point I'm betting on landfall somewhere between PA to Lake Charles. But if Laura stays south of Cuba and comes into the gulf coast as a hurricane already then I'll be worrying.

Yup. Laura is disorganized as it skirts along the southern side of Cuba, with most of the thunderstorms to the south over water. There's a chance the center reforms there which may mean a few more track changes tomorrow.

Well look at that... NHC is moving back to the west, right back to where we were at 11am yesterday!

I think the model itself shifted east but they are recognizing what Spacecity said yesterday that some models have it pushing west more. The NHC track line is now entirely in Louisiana.

There is rumbling online as the next set of models are running and a lot of pro Mets are saying the 10 AM update is going to be a lot more west.

Quote:

Put succinctly: Along the current track forecast Houston would see only modest effects in terms of wind, rain, and surge from a Laura landfall in southwestern Louisiana. However, a subtle shift 50 miles or more to the west would begin to bring serious effects into Houston. A shift of 100 to 150 miles would bring a potentially catastrophic hurricane into the region. This is entirely within the realm of possibility, and therefore the Houston-Galveston metro area needs to prepare now for a land-falling hurricanepossibly a major one. (This goes double for the Beaumont-Port Arthur area).

Berger seems to be agreeing with the online Mets...bumped up to 40% chance for Houston impact (was 30% last night)

Yeah. I saw spacecity also bumped their ratios, which I'm assuming is factoring in that thought.

Now saying 40% chance Houston, 60% chance Louisiana.

UKMET, ECMWT, HMON, and others are putting it on a direct hit at Galveston now as a major hurricane.

Not good for Houston/Galveston at all. The models are all predicting it to bomb out in the Gulf under ideal conditions.

Most of our area schools have cancelled for the week. At least we got 3 days of school in before they shut it down. I didn't really expect a double hurricane to be the reason though
