Where the NHC says the center of Laura is located does not look like the center on radar. The center looks much further south. The NHC forecast diacussion says they're having trouble locating the center as well. If it goes south of Cuba I think that would mean a stronger storm tracking further west.

Technically, yes. The pros admit predicting strength is the toughest part of it though. Generally they can only really say expected to strengthen or expected to weaken, but not necessarily nail down to what level.
Would a second storm moving in behind the first tens to move west or east of the first storm path? I would think a recent heavy rain and wind event would churn and cool the surface of the water enough to "move" the next storm into a different path.
Wouldn't the second storm be weakened somewhat by the first storm? The first storm churns up the water and cools the Gulf temps so there's less to heat to pull into the storm?

Not an expert but I would assume the temp difference wouldn't make that big of difference in that short of time frame

Which area is that in? I'm about 40 miles from the coast and don't honestly know if its worth the hassle of boarding anything up and really don't know how strong a storm would have to be in the first place to worry about that. Have only been through trop storms and cat 1 canes myself.
Cat 3 will get me to board up. About 45mins from the coast in Brazoria county.

Well, allow me.
Models will predict landfall of Laura around Port Arthur or maybe even High Island. Frank will stoke the fire. Laura will actually make landfall just West of where Marco hits. Marco and the Fujiwhara effect will pull her up the same direction. The models will not show this because it has never really happened before. Two nothing burgers for us. I would tell you all to kiss my ass again, but staff would just delete it again. So just sleep easier knowing this is how it shall pass.
Finally some rain. Much needed, cant wait!
