We spend as much as, or more than, the next 17 countries for our military. How in the blue **** are "Houthis".... or anybody....still able to wreck shop!?

Why haven't we actually "decimated" them, their families, their friends, and whomever else we need to?

Well primarily because we aren't in a war/combat with them. They are fighting the Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia, the latter of which spends twice as much as Israel on defense, at $82 billion a year.

Export controls are about to happen.

Because we don't have the balls to do what is actually necessary.

The last time this country did what was necessary to win, we turned almost every major enemy city into a wasteland, and the last two to be destroyed were wiped out in an instant flash.

Governments across the world are going to have to make some drastic and dangerous choices soon regarding diesel.
We are slightly insulated but this is going to be extremely painful for a while. Just wait until you see these diesel prices show up in the grocery store months from now.

I am thinking… weeks. The problem with crap like this is that pricing behavior exhibits inflection. Once one guy raises prices to protect inventory, there's a stampede.

We don't want regime change as badly as the regime wants to survive. We're thinking "limited war" and they are thinking "existential crisis." That's Vietnam.

The missiles were never going to solve the problem. Smart bombs don't make up for dumb strategy.

I would have been pissed about these diesel prices under Biden but I don't mind paying for President Trump. He's doing the best job that anyone in this country could do considering all the world events happening around him. $4.87 in Edinburg today at lunch

All the world events happening around him? You mean like what's going on in the Straits of Hormuz, the destruction of 60 U.S. planes, the shutdown of a major Saudi oil pipeline, the total loss of more than three billion dollars worth of military assets in the Middle East?

I mean, usually when oil prices go up, you can only say that the president is at most indirectly responsible. This time around, you can say that the president is completely responsible.

Bibi was very persuasive. To Trump.

It's interesting to contemplate a timeline here Trump said "no, that's not a good idea, we're not going to do that."

Oh well.

I am just thankful Trump totally and fully refilled the SPR when oil prices were lower to save the US money and to undo all the damage that Biden did and to provide our nation with that vital pressure relief valve for future use.......................

Heh. Biden drew down the reserves due to a global oil panic when Russia invaded Ukraine driving oil up past $130 a barrel.

Biden started filling it back up in 2024 and Trump continued that but in no way was it back to previous levels before Trump attacked Iran. In 2020 it was at 651 million barrels. When we attacked Iran it was 415 million and now it is at 285 million, the lowest it has been since 1982.

3.99 gas, 6.09 diesel at the local gas station that's always about $0.15 cheaper than everywhere else around. That's about $0.20 higher than yesterday

Of course this is in deep blue, O&G-hating south Louisiana so it's probably intentionally elevated just to make Trump look bad

I volunteer coach a HS girls basketball team in the evenings. Parents asked me last night to go from 3 practices per week down to 2 because of gas costs. No big deal though, prices are going to fall like a rock any month now since Iran is begging for a deal

One should never go to Loves to get diesel, unless you have a gas card to get the discount, in which case the price is $5.75.

[We're going to keep this to a discussion on gas prices, trends, supply disruptions, and potential solutions. To the extent the Iran conflict influences those items, it's fair game for discussion, but we're going to remove any posts that are derails, like Trump is a dummy (or a rock star) as it derails the thread. Take that discussion to a different thread please. There are ongoing threads on F16 to get deeper into the political fallout and military action considerations of the Iran conflict -- Staff]

I think I paid 5.15 for mine but it was a couple weeks before yours. At teh time, I thought it was stupid high, but now looking back, I wish I had gone ahead and filled up both tanks. You never know what's going to happen with pricing, and I kept thinking that I'd be losing money if I did that and the pricing went back down. I kept thinking, there is not way this keeps going up. But here we are.

I'd assume demand to slow the week after Labor Day. That's the end of the so called summer driving season.

Plus despite crude down 3% today, RBOB traded up and ULSD was down just a smidge. Refining stocks made new highs today.
