Something I didn't notice until I watched Chapter 8 again, the Mandos that rescued little Din...were Deathwatch.

For those of you that never watched the Clone Wars cartoon:

Well, after the finale, it's even more apparent that those couple of "filler" episodes, were just that. You can remove them from the season and lose pretty much nothing.

In fact, if you remove episodes 5 and 6 entirely, you could watch the rest of the season as a movie, and it would work great.

That said, they're not bad episodes. And as I mentioned at the time, I loved episode 6.

I think episode 8 shows that even material from filler episodes will make for recurring storylines. The comparison to Firefly is apt. Lots of standalone episodes but even those provided recurring characters and locations. Saffron shows up in a pretty much standalone Our Mrs. Reynolds only to return to the gang with a heist in Trash.

Episode 6 is badass. I'm wondering if Din breaks them out of jail next season for help. Maybe attacking Gideon?

man, i hope not...i actually liked episode 6 overall and thought it had huge potential, but the casting of the crew left much to be desired and i'd rather not revisit it

We watched 8 again. She couldn't remember how Din was saved and I told her IG put some bactine spray on him. She thought I was just f'ing with her. "Did he put some iodine on him too?!"

And then that scene...."He did spray him with bactine!"

We are old.

It would've been hilarious if he accidentally sprayed into Mando's mouth, and he gave him a look and spit it out.

You're crazy. The casting of some of those was great. The way they were directed/written maybe not so much.

I wonder what kind of airbags are in the spaceships in the Star Wars universe. Everyone walks away from horrific crashes.

Did this just become an entire series to answer the question, "What species is Yoda, and why don't we see another one?" Mando can fly around the universe looking for clues and sesrching for his home planet.

P.S. I am sure we will learn that the baby is a girl since we all just assume it is a boy.

My goodness that finale was awesome.

Maybe the small screen is the way for Star Wars.

I think I in general prefer the small screen these days. So many different series I look forward to now and so few movies.

So in general, small screen is where it's at. Take a source material like GoT.

If each book were a movie and not a season, it just wouldn't work.

The small screen does afford the opportunity to have a swing and miss and simply move on with the next episode right away. Whereas a turd like TLJ stays in the bowl for 2 years.

Small screen with premium networks and streaming allows for better storytelling. Slower burn and time to allow big moments to land.

I figured it had to be death watch since main mandalorian culture was peaceful and clearly didn't wear the armor in Clone Wars.

supposedly Mandalorian had a big budget for 8 episodes. If they decide to go with streaming vs full movies for Star Wars, how is that justified monetarily in a streaming platform?

With movies it's easy because you can match dollar spent with the individual movie. It's not so clear with streaming because the monthly dollar amount is across all shows\movies. I suppose they most likely have their own metrics and can get to to a percentage given viewers vs what they viewed.

It can't be any different than any other big budget TV show, streaming or on a premium network. HBO knew the impact that GOT had on their subscription base and how much it was worth to invest. Or Netflix with the Crown.

They know how often and who are streaming each show.

Also, based on the media the show has received, it has no doubt driven additional subscriptions.

Heck. I signed up for Hulu, Espn+ and Disney plus because of this show.
