I dont quit get how these last couple of episodes have harmed the world building.
If anything they have shown the impact of removing a strong and brutal governing force has had on the galaxy and that the transition of power from the empire to the new republic wasnt a seamless and peaceful event. But much like Iraq and Afghanistan warning factions arose and local waords tried to carve out spheres of influence and power.
Because it's been superficial. These characters and their surroundings have no lasting impact. Think about what we've actually learned about this post-empire galaxy the last 3 episodes? We've learned hardly anything and have been introduced to characters only to immediately have then wiped away. So why should i care about anything that happens when there is no carry-over? Mando will just move onto another random location to meet new characters that will also mean nothing. Copy+Paste.
I share your sentiment that it's not the type of show I was hoping it would be, but I don't see that it hurts the universe. If it remains an episodic show that doesn't really move forward any overall story arch or reveal any bigger picture about the SW universe, it doesn't really harm anything.
It would just be somewhat disappointing for those of us looking for more of an epic story line.
