The show is literally about a illegal stealing a baby from a white man.
Other than the fact that mando talks in the eddie murphy white guy voice, what evidence do you have that he is white?

Mando is the illegal. He isnt white or even close to it. Hell the actor playing him isnt a real white.

The mando's story is an allegory for The USA displacing destroying the social, legal and economic systems of Honduras and Guatemala leading the mass migration from these countries to ones that are percieved as safer.

This show is one giant SJW rant.
TF is a real white?

The same thing it has been throughout history.

A moving target that is based solely on exclusion of groups that the reference group dont want to be included.

Started out good, but the past 3 episodes have been a steady decline.

A lack of any progressive arcs (we literally know nothing more about LBY or Mando than what we learned in the first episode), bad acting (the twi-lek actors were absolutely cringey), and the copy+paste formula for Mando to take a job by a newly introduced character only to resolve the conflict and move on; not only makes it superficial but actively harms the world building this show should be founded on.

The Mandalorian is heading towards disappointment.

Let's look at the plot of the original Star Wars.

I dont quit get how these last couple of episodes have harmed the world building.

If anything they have shown the impact of removing a strong and brutal governing force has had on the galaxy and that the transition of power from the empire to the new republic wasnt a seamless and peaceful event. But much like Iraq and Afghanistan warning factions arose and local waords tried to carve out spheres of influence and power.

Because it's been superficial. These characters and their surroundings have no lasting impact. Think about what we've actually learned about this post-empire galaxy the last 3 episodes? We've learned hardly anything and have been introduced to characters only to immediately have then wiped away. So why should i care about anything that happens when there is no carry-over? Mando will just move onto another random location to meet new characters that will also mean nothing. Copy+Paste.

I share your sentiment that it's not the type of show I was hoping it would be, but I don't see that it hurts the universe. If it remains an episodic show that doesn't really move forward any overall story arch or reveal any bigger picture about the SW universe, it doesn't really harm anything.

It would just be somewhat disappointing for those of us looking for more of an epic story line.

I'm enjoying it. I've always wanted live action stories in the Star Wars universe, and that is what this is providing. With that said, I doubt they keep this style in S2.

Lol im sorry, that's not what I meant. The Mandalorian isn't harming the Star Wars universe. I meant that the narrative structure and plot mechanics of the show are limiting the show itself. Fleshing out the universe should be a founding principle of the season, but the way it is currently constructed (a 30 min "conflict of the day" style romp) is making that impossible.

Not a rumor, it's been reported. See here.

They don't want to compete with themselves (SW: Rise of Skywalker).

Is it possible that it actually will tie in to ROS?

I'm late to the party.

It's a western based in the Star Wars universe. I very much enjoyed the last episode (much more than the previous). I mean the cast alone:

Beardy at the beginning - guy from SOA and crooked cop from Batman Begins
Boston Southie not stormtrooper - Bill Burr
Actual devil - Clancy Brown (always awesome)
Blue vampire teeth Lady - Osha from GoT looking better than she ever did on that show

The horror vibe of having the lights strobe while the mandalorian stalked bill burr, aweseome.

Also the way the X-wing pilots seemed so battle hardened that they were like "they're launching a gunsip, take em out". Loved it.

Pretty crazy that there are homing beacons that once set off call in an immediate attack from New Republic fighters.

I mean they had been battling (and getting badly beaten by) the empire for years. You have to imagine that there could be situations in which procedure called for shooting first and asking questions later.

Kinda makes sense on a prisoner ship.

If it gets to the point where the prisoners have taken over, it's better to just destroy the whole ship then risk some of the worst ones getting away.

No doubt. I guess these types of measures are probably part of what brings about some policy differences between the Republic and what becomes the Resistance.

IMO, it represented how recent the fall of the empire was and how they are basically still in military mode. This is the opposite attitude we have seen in the new SW movies.

I have been enjoying the show, but I am not sure how much longer it can last with the current formula. It is reminding me of some sort of crappy network show like The Blacklist. All individual episodic side missions without a real strong central plot. In Blacklist there was a very thin plot, but it was just a villain/mission of the week. After watching a few in a row you pick up on the episode formula pretty quick that involves some sort of back stabbing and then they somehow pull it off at the very end of the episode.

Again, I am really enjoy the show, but I can see how others are getting tired of it.

Ever since The Shield, 24, Breaking Bad, I've just never been able to enjoy episodic action or drama shows.
