It's easy to talk about Baby Yoda being a genius move, but it strikes me as something that could have gone either way. Straight up coin flip on love or hate with the fanbase.

I actually think this is a potentially troubling issue for the show. The show is called The Mandalorian, but by introducing a force-using character of Yoda's species, our main character takes a back seat to a character that can't even talk in discussions of how this show fits into the larger landscape.
Like, if he passes this baby off to someone else at some point, the stakes of this show are going to seem to take a huge hit.
I bet he hands the baby off at some point and then becomes a hunted man with a bounty on his head for betraying the guild. Then we get John Wick in space.

Great episode! My guess is what the empire wants with baby yoda will tie into TROS and the Emperor, but they won't reveal that in the show until after TROS is out for awhile. Possibly how they end season 1 as the hook for season 2.
