I'm thinking epic summer vacation. Take that whole month off and go see a game in every venue.

Yep, I'm putting in for tickets at both Texas venues as well as Atlanta and probably a couple of the eastern venues.

I'm curious what secondary markets will look like. Usually group stage games aren't sold out, at least in the past. I fly free on Southwest thanks to my wife so I could pick up and go to pretty much everywhere

That's what we are hoping to do

With 48 teams there will be some garbage games.

Grabbing a ticket to see Indonesia vs Suriname in Kansas City won't be tough.

Yep. And I'll have no issue taking those tickets and going. Wonder what the base tickets will run.

And does World Cup final tickets get more expensive than Super Bowl tickets

Also there are angry people who are mad TX got two cities. While the Midwest only got 1.

Conveniently overlook ease of travel to DFW/HOU; way cheaper than a lot of places; capability of hosting basically everyone etc etc

also soldier field can't fit a 115 x 74 pitch. Idiots.

100%. There are great fans in some of the cities that got passed up that prob had an argument but geographically the Midwest blows for a Global event.

Didn't Chicago pull their bid anyways because they're mayor didn't agree with something about FIFA employees getting tax breaks

I'll admit I was (pleasantly) surprised Texas got both cities chosen. I was sure DC or Denver would get it instead.

One thing I'm wondering. Do Mexico and Canada get to play all their matches in their home country
jeffk

I would assume so - at least during the group stage anyway. Japan and S. Korea definitely had home matches when they hosted.

What will the ticket purchase process look like? I assume prior to teams qualifying tickets will already be sold based on venue?
PatAg

We definitely will need to post the process on these forums once its established, I dont think any specifics have been released yet.

Field is set already, we just don't know who is playing where yet

He's talking about 2026.

Right, but do they sell the tickets prior to knowing who will be playing where? I know some events do that.

My b. I have to think they will, given how spread out everything will be. There's going to be a portion of the audience that just wants to plan a Vancouver / Seattle combo no matter who plays, and would happily buy location based early. Maybe they'll be released in phases so that those who care to follow a specific team can do so, but will would prob be at a higher price by then

So if the ticket process is like Russia, tickets are sold in phases, phase one is a lottery for locals only…like a presale, not the entire allotment. These will be before the draw, so you'll probably only know the host countries games, and venues like USA vs A2 New York; Mexico vs B2, Guadalajara etc. and other games like F1 vs F4 in Houston.
Then phase 2, will be open to everyone first come first serve, before the draw also…
And phase 3 would be first come first serve with actual teams.

Since US is host you'll at least get to know where all the home games are, I'm assuming.

Where do you yall think the Fan Zones will be? Discovery Green?

Tangent here.
I think there is zero chance US plays a group game in new york or LA, but I could be wrong
Every game is going to sell out, I imagine they will try to give us the ideal home fields

I'd sign up for news and create a FIFA account. They will have news and ticket lottos.

Qatar was unique in that you could go to virutally every game if you wanted, so they put lot of limits on what games you could purchase. The ALL country passes sold out VERY quickly, but the day packages lasted a long time, and you went in blind for which games you would get assigned.

Listening to the football show on Sirius this morning. A lot of whining about DC not getting a game. Who here cares about DC? The only people that seem to care are locals and foreigners.

I get that in most of the rest of the world the federal capital is usually also the largest city and most important city. But that is not the case in the US.

Then there is the whining about Texas getting 2 locations. We are the size of Germany. This is like Berlin and Frankfurt getting a match. No one would complain about that.

I was kinda surprised by Boston getting a spot over DC.

Not surprised at all by Texas getting two slots. Dallas and Houston have both done very well hosting big international matches. Plus Houston has one of the largest foreign born populations in the US.

If I wanted to invite foreigners to come visit the US, I'd bet they'd enjoy Orlando (Disney World), Nashville (music city, Smokey mtns), and Denver (rocky mtns) more than Houston or Dallas.

I won't complain about it because it will make my own attendance cheaper, but I suppose Dallas and Houston got selected over those better tourist cities for other reasons including infrastructure and logistics. (Even though those other three have big stadiums with grass and Dallas and Houston have artificial and always have to bring in and lay down crappy sod for fifa events)

NRG stadium was designed for grass and had natural grass for more than a decade. Im sure it will be good.
oh no

I'm not going to complain as I'm glad Houston is getting it, but when they've had fifa events in the past ( copa America, gold cup), they've always complained about the surface.
wangus12

I have to think all the turf fields have had to commit to putting down grass with appropriate time for it to set in and grow. FIFA has to have seen the poor turf in prior events and made these owners commit to that.

Also you can't be surprised by Boston getting one. Bob Kraft was on our WC committee. No way was he doing all this and not getting matches
bagger05

I read somewhere that Kraft was being somewhat uncooperative with the WC people.

Maybe I misunderstood.

Boston is the only one that I find very surprising. Gillette is just so inconvenienttly located.
