I'd be surprised if any of the regular domestic based crew doesn't get a call up. Dike is one I'm hoping to see move on to a better league though, I feel like strikers in particular develop better in leagues other than MLS.

He knows what he has in both. Give some young guys opportunities and see what we got.

Berhalter is balancing two objectives with this camp imo. He's identifying younger talent for the future but he's also looking to the Jan/Feb WCQ window.

Given that, I see a mix of young players (already mentioned Paredes and probably Cowell) but also veterans like Long, Morris, Lleget and Roldan to keep them match sharp and fitness for Jan/Feb.

Yeah. And we share a good amount of venues. Getting better, but there's still plenty of conflicts that make it tough to arrange simultaneous seasons.

Another huge problem is weather. There are enough cold weather cities in MLS that it causes a huge issues in the schedule. MLS Cup in Toronto in November is miserable. We saw MLS Cup temps in the teens in Kansas City and Columbus in recent years. We can deal with that because it's the last game of the season. I can't imagine playing a random regular season round 15 game in Montreal or Toronto or Minnesota or Denver in January.

We saw Mexico in Columbus & Edmonton just a few weeks ago. Wait until you see Miami travel to Boston & Toronto or Houston hit Minnesota & Denver in January.

There is hope for those that want to move MLS to the international calendar though. The more that MLS combines matches with the Mexican league; the more likely that scheduling will have to compromise.

They make it work in every European league. I'm pretty sure the mls stays on the off-season calendar just because it would be disastrous to compete with college and pro football
