The key USMNT player salaries are probably pretty easy to find but just for reference on the women's side:

Trinity Rodman signed the largest NWSL contract in history last year. 4-years, $1.1M.

The absolute max an NWSL player can make is $575k but that would require a club to use 100% of their allocation money on a single player.

The NWSL minimum is $35k, max is $75k (before $500k allocation money per team) and the 2022 average salary is sitting at $54k.

So I get why some are making the point that for most of the USMNT, their "loss" was a drop in the bucket compared to the "gain" the USWNT players will now see.

That's commie talk, bub.

It doesn't matter how much the men make outside of national team duty, the women shouldn't get a cut of the men's earnings. THEY'RE NOT ON THE SAME TEAM! It's two separate teams playing the same sport.

There are only two schools of thought here:

1- One should get paid what they're worth.

2- Everyone gets the same, no matter what they are worth.

When a mens team player gets injured playing for the national team should the women cut him a check for all the lost income from his professional career? Fair is fair, RIGHT!?! Y'all are ridiculous…

Did you see my last comment? It's robbing Peter to pay Mary, which is wrong. But, I can see where the men's side just said F-it, it isn't a sum of money worth getting dragged through the mud over, which is absolutely ridiculous anyway because its the women who are creating an uproar.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

Gotcha.

Any poster that says that the men don't seem upset about it because they haven't said anything publicly is a complete fool. There could be plenty of men that are pissed about the agreement, but what good would come from saying anything publicly?

This women's team has been bullies for years now, bullying other women on the team to conform to social justice whims of a minority of players, bullying the fed in the court of public opinion for extra benefits and money, and now they bully the men into giving up some of their money.

They are bullies and I hope they fail miserably and lose every game they play…

I think the men might have a different attitude if they have to split the winners bonus with the women as opposed to round of 16 money.

I don't particularly like the revenue sharing component either.

Baby steps though. The women will be better off with the new structure. Hopefully, in 2028 when it's renegotiated they don't pull the funds anymore.

Back to the topic on the pitch, looks like Malik Tillman is the latest dual national to join USMNT. Guess he's the one Berhalter alluded to as one of the new invitee to the June camp.

Quote:

The Nuremberg-born teenager is eligible to represent both nations and has swapped his allegiance to the country of his father's birth

Bayern Munich youth star Malik Tillman has switched his international loyalty from Germany to the United States men's national team, in a boost for the Stars and Stripes.

The 19-year-old forward, who was born in Nuremberg but qualifies for the USMNT through his father, previously made two appearences for the latter's U15 side before turning out through the German youth ranks.

If this is your main issue, you should stop wasting your time with this WMNT vs MNT argument. Your main beef should be the fact that they have to collectively bargain. The federation should pay each player based upon individual contract negotiation reflecting their individual value to the US soccer program. Only then will you be happy. All the other alternatives are just different forms of "socialism".

Is the USSF in a closed shop arrangement with the player's associations?

Luca Koleosho hasn't closed the door on USMNT despite Canada call-up - source (espn.com)

Quote:

Espanyol forward Luca Koleosho has accepted a call-up from Canada but has not closed the door on representing the United States men's national team, a source familiar with the situation has told ESPN.

Koleosho, 17, became the youngest American-born player to debut in LaLiga last Sunday when he came on as a substitute in Espanyol's season-ending goalless draw at Granada.

Canada named him in their 25-man squad on Wednesday for June's now-cancelled friendly against Iran and Nations League matches against Curacao and Honduras.

https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-states-usa/story/4675995/zack-steffen-to-miss-us-world-cup-prep-matchessean-johnson-added

Quote:

Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen will miss the United States' four World Cup prep matches next month for what the team said was family reasons, and he was replaced on the roster Friday by New York City FC's Sean Johnson.

I wouldn't trust Steffen with any meaningful minutes in the WC. He barely plays and when he does its not that impressive. Now he won't play during the summer for the USMNT. Unless he moves from MC, he is going to roll into the World cup with less than 15 matches played in 2 years.

Completely agree. Gregg needs to tell all the keepers in England that the one who is playing most is the probable starter and can likely be beat out by an in-form keeper from the MLS. It's crazy that GK used to be the only position where we had strong depth and multiple European League starters.
