Attacking third just HAS to be more clinical. We created real chances, as well as botched some in the buildup to it. I don't agree that Sargent sucks, but he does need to start doing more.
I dont know how likely this is to happen, but I think Greggggg has to figure out a way to get our wingers and 8s more connected to whoever is playing the 9 more frequently. It's too disjointed most of the time, though even in this game we had some really dangerous sequences of play that led to our good chances.

Is this the first successful TexAgs hookup to take place on the soccer board?!

I probably won't rewatch but did it seem like the players were consistently inconsistent last night? Or maybe they were trying to play fast when they should play slow and vice versa. As if they all wanted to make an impact every time they touched the ball and forgot to settle down and make the easy play.

And when are we going to going to talk about Dest being a turnover machine who is slow tracking back? His style plays right into the hands of the of CONCACAFy defenders not afraid of contact.

That was not a good result. We can talk about going on the road to hostile CONCACRAP countries all we want. But this squad needs 6 points out of 9 on this 3 game stretch to feel good. They now have a much, much tougher hill to climb.

Canada at home and Honduras on the road. 3-4 points just became a very real possibility.

Not even going to call out individual players because there were too many with D and F grades.

If El Salvador had an MLS level striker, they would have won this match.

I agree with tysker. I thought we were consistently inconsistent. I thought we did manage to get into good positions last night only for the final ball to be the let down, whether it be a cross or that final pass.

Sargent on multiple occasions looked like he wanted to pass rather than let it fly. Just take a rip. The old saying of not scoring if you don't shoot and all that. I like his hustle, but his hold up play leaves much to be desired. With the way our wingers like to come in off the flank, Pefok looked much better up top. We really need someone to take hold of the FW position, whether it be Pefok, Sargent, Dike or someone else.

Reyna needs to be the one playing in the middle and Aaronson should have been on the wing. That said, Reyna lost a ton of possession when he did have the ball.

Dest needs to relax on his desire to dribble through entire teams. He lost possession in dangerous spots and then fails to hustle back to cover his own mistake. With Ream out there, we don't exactly have speed to defend the counter. Playing Dest and de la Fuente on the same side is asking for trouble going down that flank defensively. I thought Konrad should have stayed on longer than Aaronson.

That said, I thought the defense for the most part shut down everything ES tried to do. Turner sometimes scares me with his feet, but I thought they all played fairly comfortably.

McKennie had a rough game all around. He just needs to be better in every facet and we know he can be.

This is a very talented, but very immature USMNT. They have got to be more cohesive in how they play. Sometimes they look like they have no idea what each of them are doing. Some of it is tactics, and some of it is just not being on the same wavelengths. This is a team where the majority of players are playing in Europe now. Time for it to show against CONCACAF competition.

El Salvador was barely in the game. xG was 0.3 - 1.8.

In the era of the hex, the home team won 60% of all games, and visiting teams won like 15%. The United States dropped points on the road to one of the bottom 3 finishing teams in every single hexagonal where we qualified and usually lost a game to one of those teams.

Failure to qualify in Concacaf happens by dropping points at home. The Canada game was always way more important than El Salvador, and qualifying will be won or lost in home games vs Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, etc. we didn't qualify last time because of losing the home games (which all the other teams are rarely doing), not because of draws away.

We lost a chance to steal some bonus points.
