The only thing that bothered me about her was her acting. Worst actor in the show.
Yeah, she played an incredibly cheesy villain. It was almost like a bad super hero movie villain.

She has the look, acting chops, and voice for late night Skinemax flicks.

Just want to point out that nobody knows the robots are sentient. As far as anybody on the outside is concerned, Ford probably programmed them to do this in some murder suicide type rampage. He could very well be seen as just a lone shooter, so to speak.

Also, there is a lot of motivation for those who survive the attack, either on the island or off, to keep this hush hush until they are able to get it under control and mitigate the damages. Those board members who were killed are going to have family that stand to inherit a lot of money from the stock in Westworld, so long as the military doesn't swoop in and level the place or shut it down.

We don't even know what country this is in, or even if it is it's own sovereign nation. We don't even know what countries are left in the future, for that matter.

Point is, it ain't like this is going to be broadcasted on the six o'clock news and everybody is going to know about it. As of right now, the only victims of the rampage are board members and Westworld personnel. They may go after regular guests, but then again they may not. If they don't, then I suspect we will see the survivors like MIB, board member lady, and writer guy work to cover it up.

Finally caught up with 280 replies of arguing over pretty obvious stuff. Whoever write that article about Dolores and Maeve being on opposite sides in the future...I'm not sure I see that yet. Dolores clearly looks like she's ready to go Magneto and kill all the humans (in the park, anyway). Maeve, though, had no issue with killing any humans in her way, either. How exactly is she supposed to be the good one?

Ok, I just caught up on the thread and have a few questions.

I get that Delores obviously became sentient, or at least it is made to seem that way. If that's true, how do we explain the below?

(1) ford seems to know he is about to die. If the death wasn't planned/coded how does he know he is going to die. For example, his last conversation with bernarnold clearly makes it seems like he knows he is going to die. He even says he has to say goodbye. If he wasn't about to die, why would he feel the need to say that?

(2). The same music that some of you believe cued Delores to kill Arnold was playing when she killed ford. How do you explain this? If you think the music made her kill Arnold, why do you think it didn't make her kill ford? Are you assuming the music is just for the audience and isn't actually playing when she kills ford? It certainly seems like that song is playing at the party. In fact, Bernard even hears it and says the violent delights line.

I guess it's not that important overall, but I never saw any answers to these. Were these all just coincidences?

I still think Hannibal is alive and the body that was being created in his little safe house was him. He programmed everyone to go Ham on the board members and is coming back for retribution since they were going to expel from from "His World"

I don't believe Dolores and friends are aware yet but are still being manipulated to do Hannibals bidding. Season 2, all out war between the worlds. Since we never really saw what happened to the security leader (I could have missed something important in the show) but it seemed like each park had its own Mission control room. So each park could be fighting each other soon. We will have till 2018 to ponder though *cry face*

I wonder if the hosts from Westworld will hate the hosts of SamuraiWorld or vice versa. Then we can argue if their racism was programmed or a sign of sentience.

1. My guess is he was confident that Dolores was going to end up shooting him. I asked this about 20 pages ago, but the big question is what would he have done next if she (a) didn't realize her inner voice, or (b) decided not to kill him?

2. I think the big discussion about the music is a giant waste of time. To the point though, when someone is giving a big speech at a gala like that, how often is the facility playing music while they are talking? It's just there for theme/tying scenes together.

Even if Dolores doesn't kill him there is still an army of murder bots in the trees that could have done the job if he programmed them to do so as a failsafe

I guess when SHTF I panicked a bit and lost track of who for sure got shot. Please tell me the annoying BOD chick got waxed??? I cannot get over how awful she is. She has the acting talent of a hardcore pornstar. If not, I will still tune in for the next season, but will just be highly disappointed and will root for her demise in every scene. She is awful.

Keep in mind how highly Ford think of himself, he was certain that she was going to kill him so there didn't really need to be a backup plan. Remember he thinks he controls everything. The hosts, the guests, etc.

This is an interesting question actually. Can they?

So far only Dolores, Maeve, Bernard, Hector and Armistice have been able to kill people.

Dolores was fully sentient when she did it, but Meave, Hector and Armistice all had their code changed and Bernard was under direct direction of Ford.

Even Clem, whose code was changed by Bernard and shoots the MiB, only injures him.

I found the religious overtones of the show interesting. They seem to put a lot of thought into it.

1. Creation (Delores) vs. Evolution (Maeve)
2. Garden of Eden (with MiB as the Devil for Delores and Teddy)
3. The idea of God and free will (If God controls the universe, do we really have free will? How do we know? How do we recognize it?)
4. What constitutes sentient life? (Obviously with AI, but also beyond that. When would, say, a whale be judged to be sentient?)
5. The nature of the devil and his motivations. (Essentially following the MiB, who is like the gods -- Ford and Arnold -- but isn't one. He embraces evil as part of a quest he thinks is just. He's the snake to Delores' Eve, but he also longs to own the park and attempts to get the secrets of how it creates life. They follow this with various degrees of finesse.)

I thought the finale wasn't up to the rest of the series, but I enjoyed it.

Loved the show. One small tangent. I didn't read this thread or the weekly recaps during the season. Literally the one time I decided to listen to an entertainment podcast the hosts brought up the two timeline/man in black theory. That was pretty frustrating. Technically it isn't a "spoiler", only a theory, but I still didn't see it coming. A clever twist doesn't make a bad show become good, but it does make a good show even better.

I watched the finale with two people who didn't know about the man in black twist. They were both shocked while I was only left to observe the mechanics of the scene. As much fun as it is to talk about existentialism and artificial intelligence, I'm not sure it is worth having things potentially spoiled.

I'd think pretty much anyone watching would have known the MiB was either Logan or William by the finale, the question was really just which one was it going to be. Even then most of the signs pointed to William.

RE: The host that Ford was making when Bernard killed Teresa. I think that was another Bernard. If Bernard had killed him self before, as Ford stated, he would need a backup for his new story. I'd guess that Ford always had a Bernard or 2 ready to go just in case.

That brings up an interesting point. Ford showed almost no surprise to see Bernard up and moving around, which implies it was Ford that sent Maeve on her course.

Anyone think Ford might still be alive? That that was a host version of himself? Part of me hopes he is, but I think it's wishful thinking. Anthony Hopkins was NAILS in this show. A brilliant actor. Some of his prolonged expressions in certain scenes sent chills up my spine.

No....because Anthony Hopkins isn't going to be in a 6 year (or even 3 or 4 year) recurring series.

I wish.

I mean I guess there is a chance because it is only 10 episodes per year (or 1.5 years)....and thats similar to a movie shoot duration if they are filing in say 3 months at a time periods every 12-18 months.

Might depend on the awards reaction.

But I'm still doubtful.

Probably true, but I would have loved at least another season of the guy. I am sure the show will still be great, but he was a huge part of it for me. He gave the show that much more of a chilling/haunting vibe imo.

Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that Hopkins signed on for more than one season. Nolan hinted than no one is really ever dead - because of the nature of the show, any actor can come back, be it as a host or in a flashback - but it sounds like if Hopkins does ever come back, it'll just be in a cameo capacity here and there. Maybe some big, pertinent flashback or something like that.

Would have been better if Nolan had said "No one is really ever dead, aside from the annoying BOD chick with porn level acting skills.".

Sorry, I'll stop talking about her. She is just nails on a chalkboard to me for some reason.

If so, Tessa Thompson is actually a really great actress, but yeah, she has not been good on Westworld. That said, she doesn't have a lot to work with either. It's a very one-note character, writen in cliched fashion.

Now that I think about it, it likely is largely due to the writing and shallowness of her character. Made me cringe at times and just didn't seem to blend well with the show, but I'll go easy on her from now on.

Great looking lady and I'll take your word on her acting skills.

Think about it. Westworld season 2 and the final season of Game of Thrones could very well premiere back to back. Westworld in the spring and GoT in the summer. HBO is going to be loving life in 2018.
At first they will be loving life, but they will quickly fall into a deep depression when they remember that is the final season of GoT.

Btw, for those watching this Facebook live thing, I love how normal Nolan and Joy come across. They're just like this unassuming married couple, with zero pretension, who just so happen to have created the biggest show of the year together.
I love this, but why did they record it in a construction zone?
