I love Ed Harris's revolver. A nine shooter with one shotgun shell. Badass gun.

This show definitely requires a lot of suspension of disbelief.
There are a lot of things that just don't hold up under any level of scrutiny....still a cool concept.

So, I'm way late but..is this basically an episode of Star Trek where the holodeck simulation goes really really wrong? Like, Tom Paris' Irish country town thing and the episode with the Holograph revolt?

It's been discussed on here. So far we don't have a lot of evidence either way, but I like the theory.
I like it. Guess I'll have to rewatch episode 2 now. What a shame. ;-)nhayden said:

Interesting theory on the Ed Harris character, I may have missed this being posted, looking back on the last episode, it makes sense.
weak. you need to up your game.swimmerbabe11 said:
Does someone else do a vaguely western holodeck simulation? That's the only one I know of.

My bad I jumped on this thread late and went back a page or two only. I love the theory and I think it will come together over the next few episodes, great show!
Three things make me think that the story is concurrent.nhayden said:

First is that the Escaton story was likely stricken when they had to up his timetable and he went to the saloon which gave us the Paint it Black sequence at the end of the first episode. With that being removed, they filled in the quest with the Army officer.
Second is when Jimmi Simpson's character arrived, the entrance to the park where he bumped into the guy that Marsden bumped into is the same. This suggests that the narrative had no changed much in nearly 30 years.
Third is that when Jimmi Simpson is on the train to the town, the woman Newton's character talks to when they are discussing Harris' character taking out an entire group of hosts. Concurrently I believe.
I'm sure there is a theory on it already, but I'm thinking that Harris' character is the surviving player (Peter Martin?) from the original movie and that in that regard, this series isn't so much a reboot of the film for TV but rather a continuation of the story.
Seems to make more sense than William and MIB are the same person. To me that is a strrrrretchjabberwalkie09 said:Three things make me think that the story is concurrent.nhayden said:

Edit to add: That's not to mention that the hosts have apparently changed a lot over 30 years and are more lifelike than they were 30 years ago, if I'm remembering correctly.
Yeah in the movie, IIRC, the hosts were identifiable by the palms of their hands. Either no lines, or one line or something.Quote:

I don't buy the Ed Harris is the new guy theory. If they were jumping back and forth in time Dolores would be the only character we would recognize. Didn't the tech say she was the last host around from the F-up 30 years ago?
