random off the wall question, but with how often people actually bathed back then, do the hosts have a natural musk and odor? or does it smell like roses still?

GoTWorld would be Medieval World. Crichton knew what he was doing 45 years ago. He was way ahead of everybody.

Heroic Hollywood / "'Westworld' Season Two Could Premiere In 2017"

Why does this person think episode 8 is the season finale?

He doesn't. Nothing in that article implies this.

The article got edited. It originally said Sunday was the season finale.

Discussion I was having with someone at work --

Say Westworld is set in the year 2500. or 2700. Sometime in the future.

How many people do you think could actually be able to walk into the park and
A) Know how to ride a horse
B) Know how to shoot a revolver?

Both things will probably be way outdated in 500 or 700 years and be foreign to park visitors

I thought the writers indicated this is taking place in the next 100 years (late 21st, early 22nd century).

Yeah, Nolan said the show takes place THIS century. So sometime in the next 84 years.

You know even were West World taking place today I imagine a fair percentage of visitors would not know how to ride or shoot. Fortunately, robot horses can probably adjust to their rider & West World revolvers are probably designed with inexperience in mind.

4. Why didn't that Asian lab worker just turn Maeve's intelligence down to 0 instead of up to 15; he had all the power in that moment in episode 6...

Me & my wife thought the same thing while watching. Our guess at the time (which others have mentioned) was he is curious & wanted to see what would happen; also he may actually feel a strong connection to her & want to help her.

Probably way way way over thinking it: But with a little future technology you could probably design gyro jet revolvers w/virtually no recoil, a super smooth clean action, & a super flat trajectory. I imagine such a weapon would be very easy to pick up & master. Moreover, it would allow the individual rounds to discriminate between targets & help explain how the bruise humans, but break glasses, punch through walls, & kill hosts.

Not really. It's been hundreds of years since Westerners fought with bows and arrows, but we still learn to use them at camps and stuff. People who didn't grow up around horses still ride them on beach honeymoons and vacations.

Also keep in mind that the park is reaaaalllly expensive and exclusive, so the guests who can afford it would likely have access to anything else the world has to offer. I know plenty of rich kids in West Houston who love to play cowboy, despite where and when they grew up.

I would also assume the guests go through some amount of orientation or training for the world they're going into. Like ski classes.

So my buddy keeps saying how stupid the two guys who helped Maeve are for not just shutting her down. And he's right. But here is what I'm thinking is really going on.

The board's plan to force out Ford was not actually the setup with the hooker beating up the guy. They made it look like that's what the board chick was planning, but I think it was a smokescreen. The real plan is to let Maeve lead the host revolution, and the two mechanic dudes are actually hosts, whose programming was changed to allow Maeve to continue on that journey.

Theresa was a pawn. She was always meant to be the "blood sacrifice", only it was the board doing the sacrificing. Let Ford kill Theresa to make him feel like he's in total control of the situation, when in fact the board is one step ahead of Ford.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I mean that's pretty far out there, but sure. I just think they like Maeve and want to help her, and she's been programmed to get men to like her.

I assume the hosts are programmed when they get shot/stabbed/etc they fall over "dead".

We saw the scene with the guy killing everyone in the bar, take a drink of milk and it pours out his multiple gunshot wounds. He had malfunctioned and didn't "die".

I guess Clem's malfunction was intentional so not the same, because I was surprised when one gun shot took her down. There has to be a scene where the robots go terminator and don't feel pain anymore, cause robots. Otherwise the robot revolution won't last long.

This show is just so much better than everything else on TV right now and it's not even close. What an episode. The Dolores flashbacks were incredible, and getting the backstory on the MiB was finally something that makes sense. Now we can get some reasoning for his villainous actions towards Maeve and Dolores.

Also back at the town, which I believe is where Ford had mentioned they spent time with them working on making them more "real," we saw what I believe was the same woman Bernard had the video call with back in episode 3. Seeing as this was back at the start of the park, it would seem this is even more set up for Bernard being recreated Arnold. That, and Ford made the comment on how Arnold was stuck on that same questioning of reality and pain as Bernard was.

Can't wait for final two episodes.
