Yeah, I remember all that stuff, but (A) I tend to take things at face value...which I realize is not smart with this author, and (B) read so fast I don't really focus on side details. I always think, why does Brienne care about this guy digging over there?

In my own defense, I have only read all 5 books once, and I blew through them

It doesn't matter if Sandor is valonqar, Cersi is to die only after all her children have. Tommen and Myrcella are still alive.

Honestly i'd rather not even have him even a part of the trial by seven, they have enough knights and a known aggrieved character with Lancel. Letting Sandor's story end as a grave digger on the quiet isles being troubled soul who found peace is perfect and a great redeeming arc for the character. Pulling him back in is something i would expect from the opening sequence in a generic action movie not Martin.

The priest does tell Brienne that he buried him under stones, and placed his helm on top of the cairn. So to say that he completely used the metaphorical when saying that the Hound "died" is not quite true. I believe he is still alive also though.

For now!

Tommen is somewhat safe, but there is all sorts of stuff that could end up going wrong in Dorne

Its implied that each child will wear a crown. So I'm presuming that Myrcella will be married to Aegon.

Which wouldn't make a hell of a lot of sense, but hey! Its prophecy!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Tommen's cat runs into the middle of the fight between Robert and Sandor, Tommen screams and chases after him. Tommen pounces on his kitty, relieved to have retrieved him, but as he turns to look back at his mother, he sees Roberts blade arcing through the air. The last thing he ever hears is his mother's blood curdling scream.

Each child will wear a crown of gold. Doesn't have to mean a literal crown but blonde hair instead.

That's what I love about this story. It wouldn't surprise me if GRRM had Sandor stay on the Quiet Isle forever, as an understated redemption arc. It wouldn't surprise me if he found Sansa (who is practically next door at the Gates of the Moon) and helped her somehow. It wouldn't surprise me if he joined the Faith Militant and fought for them in Cersei's trial. And it wouldn't surprise me if he figured out that Robert Strong was Gregor, and decided "frack redemption, I'm killing him." And all of those possibilities are supported by the text.

But the cat lives right?

Of course, and causes enough distraction for Sandor to win. Also, the cat is a little brother, as well.

On a different note, any chance Bran learns enough to unlock Hodor from being simple minded?

hodor is perfect being simple minded.

btw, where is lady melisandre when the story ends?
Negative Throckmorton

She'll be ashes. I presume consumed by dragon fire

Speaking of bran and hodor, did anyone else think the show kind of hastily dropped Bran's warg ability on everyone? I know Jojen talked about it, but they never showed Bran practicing or anything before he went in Hodor's head. Seemed too convenient for that to have been the first time
Negative Throckmorton
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, instead of the bickering going on with that storyline, they should've shown Bran's wolf dreams with Jojen giving him a knowing nod whenever he woke up.

Bran dreamed of bring a knight before being crippled, right?

Solution = Trial by Battle between unGregor/Robert Strong and Bran-controlled-Hodor.

Say what you will, but I do not think the Hound needs to be redeemed. He may scoff at the stories and the men who hold the title of knight, but when it all comes down to it, he is the closest thing to a true knight in the books, at least in the way he watches for each of the Stark girls without asking anything in return. Really, if you think back on it, other than killing Mycah, there is little he does that coud actually be considered detestable.

Thats pretty much what i meant, though probably poorly stated. I think him finding peace on the quiet isles is a perfect ending and serves to show his redemption, not that is necessarily the redeeming act.

Having the faith come to him and say hey i know you are trying to become a new person out here in a secluded area and change from the crazy madman you were but we really need you this time may work in Rambo/Commando/Shooter etc. but i expect more from Martin. Let others fight that fight and let his story end as we saw it.

Lancel will probably get killed by Robert Strong which results in a drop in Cersei's already dismal approval ratings. Kinslaying is still somewhat frowned upon in Westeros.

I would kick Dan McDowell right in his sternum. I hate him. I hate his condescending personality, I hate his nasally voice, I hate his doughy man tits, I hate his pale rosy face, I hate his sunken eyes, I hate his thinning hair...

Whoa, what just happened? I blacked out for a second.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
episode 10 is gonna be packed! judging from the episode preview...

-immediate aftermath of the RW at the twins (bolton, fate of blackfish/edmure, arya/hound escaping)
-ramsay's reveal to theon
-something with Yara (probably Balon's death announcement)
-dragonstone stuff with some hints at stannis' imminent departure for the Wall?
-bran's team meeting up with Sam and Gilly at the nightfort
-maybe Jon getting back to castle black? and it looks like ygritte is in the preview too, maybe her and tormund regrouping somehow?
-jaime and brienne back in KL (departure from the books but the dynamics should be very interesting with joff alive and sansa still there)
-everyone else in KL finding out about the RW and reacting to it, plus probably some other KL stuff (i think there's a joff/tywin scene)
-dany's big Mhysa moment at yunkai
-unCat at the end?! (god i hope so)

that is a ton of content. if only the finale could be 1.5-2 hours...

I think people are going to be disappointed. I think it's still way too early for unCat. She was gone for quite some time in the books iirc and it doesn't make sense to rush her reappearance (she was supposed to have been dead for some time when they found her, anyways, so I'm not sure it fits the timeline of the show).

I half expect Jon's Ygritte arc to complete in the finale. That's what I've expected since before the season started (with the cliffhanger being Mance's army's arrival) but frankly I don't know if this episode will be long enough to fit that in.

Last year they gave us an extra 10 minutes in the finale (which they didn't announce til after Episode 9). Maybe they'll give us some extra screen time this weekend too.

couple things about that...

1) from a TV plot/pacing perspective, ending the season with the positive (yet still dark) half of the RW would be a good payoff and make viewers really want to see where it goes

2) when we see her in the epilogue of book 3, we don't know how long she's been with the brotherhood - they've clearly established her as the "leader" by then and have been hanging freys for a while

3) even if there a decent amount of time between the end of the RW and the actual resurrection, there are clearly a ton of things happening in this episode that may give the impression of a substantial amount of time passing, so it's still doable IMO

you may be right, but i think they'd be passing up a great cliffhanger opportunity by not bringing Cat back

You didn't think Dan's explanation of the old king hates the young king was adequate?
