did I imagine a chapter in which Jaime leaves riverrun with brienne after stoneheart nearly hangs her and after riverrun yields to jaime?

Seems like.

Brienne's last chapter is the hanging.

You did not imagine it. There is a single Jaime chapter in DWD where Brienne finds Jaime and tells him she has found Sansa but he must come with her alone because The Hound will kill her. That is the last we hear from either of them to this point. Certainly she is likely taking him to Lady Stoneheart where he will stand trial. This may be part of why he has been training to fight left handed as well with Sir Illyn.

. Since the writers know the end if they don't have that part it may say something about where the story is going. I'll be really bummed if they cut it though. They may not need to really cast it as those actors only will appear in that scene and then disappear for at least 2 books.

One thought I had was if the show writers ever need to fill in some plot holes like that, they can always do a flashback scene.

Correct, Briene did find Jamie.

Also, no way Tyrion is a partial Targaryn. If tywin even remotely thought it possible he would have killed tyrion.

Seems I need to catch up on DWD.

don't worry, I've forgotten so much stuff.

Not necessarily. That would be admitting that it happened to the world essentially and would dishonor his House and himself. It would also dishonor his wife who he loved dearly. There is also the possibility he wasn't sure. He certainly treats Tyrion as a ******* and he makes it clear he won't inherit Casterly Rock even though he is legally his heir which in the context of Westeros doesn't make sense. Plenty of fathers hate their sons but it is no easy thing to disinherit an heir who has not taken vows (Maester, KG, or NW). I don't think it can actually happen. Of course since Tyrion kills Tywin and is guilty because of the Trial by Combat that could invalidate his claim but it is irrelevant prior to Tywin's death. That's why Sam had to join the NW, his father did not want him to inherit and he couldn't simply pass him over legally.

This is the synopsis from the wiki on what happens with Jaime and Brienne:

quote:
Jaime rides to the village Pennytree with Hoster who tells him of the history of the lands and animosity between the Blackwoods and Brackens. There lies an ancient oak tree with pennies nailed to it, the namesake of the village. There Brienne of Tarth finds them, bandaged on her face, and with the sword Oathkeeper. Brienne claims that she has found Sansa, and that Jaime must accompany her alone or else Sandor Clegane would kill the girl

it is pretty interesting that after all the crap brienne gave Jaime about keeping oaths, circumstance is going to force her to lie to/betray him. likely, anyway

And regarding Brienne, I think she lives as well

I thought Brienne definitely survived, at least for now. I thought she appeared in the last Jaime chapter in DWD?

Wrong! He said he couldnt prove he wasnt a Lannister, technically it was his wife's child...

Unless you are familiar with English lit or antiquity, the insult of being a cuckold is unfamiliar. The idea that another man seduced the Lion's wife and seeded a child under the Lion's nose would be a huge insult and a point of much ridicule "limp d-ck old man couldnt please his wife". For Tywin who cares more about "legacy" than his children, to be known that he was cuckolded would be enormous. So he can NEVER disown Tyrion, even if he had the proof.

Why does Tywin hate tyrions lechery sooo much? It certainly can't be a question of honor, do you think Tywin cares about the incest between two of his kids? For all we know he knows lancel is pounding it too. So why hate tyrions infidelity?

The lion at the head of a pride takes many lionesses, without blinking an eye and as Tywin says a lion does not concern himself with opinions of lesser animals.

So we are left with the conclusion that tyrion is the result of lechery, much to Tywin's shame
Greeze06

Because he is an imp.

The targaryn part is extremely far fetched. Jon snow is one thing but for multiple characters to have mistaken lineage is searching for something that isn't there.

That's how I see it as well Bill. It also doesn't make rational sense as to why Tywin has so much anger toward Tyrion due to his being born/wife dying/being a dwarf. There has to be a deeper reason and the only logical one is that he doubts the legitimacy of Tyrion. There also would be no purpose in the attention spent on discussing Aerys' lust for Joanna if it went nowhere.
redline248
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I really don't think it is anymore than ultra proud tywin hating the ridicule of tyrion being associated to him and the lannister name, along with blaming tyrion for the death of his wife. some people in real life hate their kids for stuff like that.

I do think that theory is interesting though

didn't tywin's father also use hoars, so he hates them for that reason too?

If you recall tyrion didn't necessarily have a taste for hoars until TYWIN got him his first one. And he did that just to wound Tyrion.

Wait, didn't Jaime say that Tysha being a hoor was a lie?

baron beat me to it...tysha wasn't a hoar. that was the big reveal between jaime and tyrion at the end of book 3

The moment she took silver per officer screwed she was a hoar.

Plus she was a hoar because she slept with tyrion outside the confides of marriage. Lets not act like she was a virtuous woman.

They got married though. Tysha was his wife.

So we could see "Arristan" in the Season Premiere.

If thats the case she gets the Unsullied no later than the 4th episode.
Nailed it!

I read somewhere she (Arya) meets the BwB in episode 2
That would set up her leaving with the Hound by ep 4/5. Then they spend 2 episodes on the road, then they reach the Freys.
On track to leave the BwB by ep5...
redline248
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I say push that back by one episode
BillOnCapitolHill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Probably do the Beric fight at the end of the episode (5)

Ep6 Arya leaves and get captured.

Ep7 travel to Riverrun, explains his motive to join Starks.

Ep8 they arrive, boom, Red Wedding, head wound.

Ep9 is the Polliver/Tickler encounter.

Ep10 Clegane falls off his horse, Arya heads to Bravos.

Sound right?
SlimM

Sounds good, except episode 9 is called "Rains of Castamere", so I would think that would be the red wedding.

Anyone else excited that we are 4-5 weeks away from the biggest meltdown since losing to Arkansas St?
BillOnCapitolHill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I guess everything post RW for arya is filler for s4, which makes sense because then she would be largely absent s4 (remainder of asos). So there will be two episodes of her and the Hound on the road (probably one episode of contempt and another of an understanding). Then her story ends for this season at the back of an axe handle. Lol. People are gonna be soooooo pissed.
AggieSouth06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I doubt they will end the season without revealing that Arya is alive. They will have to figure out a way to end on a somewhat positive or hopeful note to keep viewers engaged.

But who knows. They will lose some casual viewers after the RW, just hope it nets out where plenty of people are still watching.
BillOnCapitolHill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If the RW is ep9, killing Joff ep10 ends on a high note. The question is will they work in melisandre's magic/profesy of three dead kings (renly, Robb, Joff)?
