The three prophesied dead kings were greyjoy, robb, and joff. Renly was already dead when she burned the leeches

I don't think they kill Joff off this season, and the prophecy was Balon, not Renly. Renly was already dead when she made the prophecy.

i doubt joff dies this season. they haven't cast any Dornish characters and i don't think there'd be enough room for all that to happen in one episode, especially since ep. 10 will most likely be dany-focused (ep. title of Mhysa so likely her taking yunkai and the fallout from that) with the Westerosi stuff just being the RW fallout and whatever they decide to do with Jon's season finale

i'm also not confident they'll have arya's big revenge scene at the inn next season, mostly cause the tickler is already dead in the show at Jaqen's doing and i'm not sure they ever even named Polliver - though he does have Needle still, i think, so maybe they'll have something similar

As for Arya, I wouldn't be too surprised if season 3 ends with Arya sailing off to Braavos, with no re-appearance until the very end of season 4 as a cliffhanger. (As much as I love Arya, I sort of hope that's exactly how her story gets handled to build up suspense and anticipation for season 5.)

no complaints. not a single one. first GoT episode where i can confidently say that

wow that was an amazing hour of televison

So much greatness in that episode. The acting in this show is so good it's ridiculous. Maisie Williams and Nicolai Coster-Waldeau killed it.

And Shereen singing Patchface prophecies over the credits was awesome.

i hadn't even realized they cast shireen at all, and then they give us:

1) yet ANOTHER great child actor
2) grayscale that looks exactly like i pictured
3) a brilliant story change with her teaching davos to read
4) a transfer of the creepy patchface lyrics without the goofy character

and that is only a tiny part of why this episode was so good. man they hit on all cylinders this week

Amazing episode. It felt like it was over in 5 minutes.

I can't decide if tyrion marries next week in "The Climb" or the week after in "the bear and the maiden fair"

ramsay/theon scenes look to be pretty brutal

Anyone else still get a sinking feeling when he said he was going to go to the Freys and then again in the preview when meeting with them?

Don't do it, man. Change your mind while you can.

Oh, and don't lie - you gave it a 10 because you saw Ygritte's tits. And Brienne's ass.

I was kind of hoping to see patch face, but no biggie. creepy selyse keeping stillborn babies in pickle jars.

that was a great episode. I am always so pissed when they end.

Excellent episode, could have gone without the pickled babies though.

This season is going to be so amazing as a whole.

A couple thoughts:

It is starting to look like Loras won't be joining the Kingsguard, and is apparently already over Renly. I wonder if he'll eventually be sent to attack Dragonstone still.

Will Melisandre now think Shireen is a "dangerous creature" since there is no patchface?

additional note: For a queen, Robb's wife dresses like peasant.

I think Cersei is going to convince Joffrey to make Loras a KG or convince Loras to ask Joffrey to make him a KG

I gotta say that I think the Hound v. Beric fight was excellently done and I think Beric had some of the best swordplay and choreography in a fight scenve so far...really enjoyed how well that scene was done

I believe the creators will write Patchface into the show somehow, possibly under the pretense that Shireen needs a friend to keep her out of trouble, i.e. no more visiting Davos in the dungeons.

It will be interesting if Shireen teaches Davos to read rather than the maester.

Discussion topic:

What would you have done with Lord Karstark if you had been Robb? Executed him? Send him home to Karhold in chains? Thrown him in a dungeon cell? Pardoned him? Trial by combat? Flayed him?
AggieSouth06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would have done exactly what Edmure and Talisa suggested. Keep him hostage until the war was over to keep the Karstark army in your camp.

I hope they build up more hope for Robb before the RW. Right now he seems even more out of control than in the books and doomed. In the books he felt more in control to me and I had real hope for him turning it around.

Loved the Hound/Beric fight. Loved the Ygritte/Jon stuff as they seemed to have been neglecting that relationship. Loved Shireen mixed with Patchface.

The best though was that final scene with Tywin, Cersei, and Tyrion. The reaction as he told Cersei she would marry Loras was just awesomeness. Charles Dance is such a stud.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm wondering now if they will plan to have edmure marry a frey. so far they haven't said much about it, but surely they won't make the red wedding become the red treaty or red war council.

I'm also surprised that none of the non readers have said anything about a guy dying, only to be brought back to life. that was kind of a big development
aggie93
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Almost certainly. They already said in the preview "It's not what we want it's who".

I think the biggest miss right now are the Dire Wolves. They tie the audience to the Starks in a major way. Robb's should be seen with his wolf more as it shows he has more power and control and we are completely missing Arya's wolf dreams, which is one of the only ways she stays grounded to her "old life" later in the books.

Nice nod to readers by naming one Edric.

I don't see him as out of control but rather struggling with his position and who he is. i do agree that he was portrayed in the books as being in a much stronger position in the war. I did really like his story last night because it really showed who Rob is and how much he is trying to live up to his father. He did what Ned would have done in that situation versus what anyone else would have even knowing the cost.

One change that i didn't like was the plan to attack Casterly Rock as no one has ever taken it by force, Rob would have known that.

I was under the impression Robb becomes distant with Grey Wind, even in the book, quite a bit because his wife was scared of him.

The Arya/Nymeria storyline can be added in anytime imo it might be a good way to give her filler screen time while she's traveling to Braavos and her initial time there.

Good call. Didn't Robb stop palling around with Grey Wind because it made the Westerlings nervous? And wasn't that also why he didn't heed Grey Wind's nervousness about the Freys at the wedding?

I've always kind of thought that as long as one of the Stark kid's wolves was still alive, they had a stake in the Game of Thrones.

PS, I found the Lannisters...

Jason lost a hand when they took away his play calling responsibilities.

Even Tyrion is handing around in the background.

I loved the episode but 10/10 is pushing it. Are you forgetting about a certain scene with a squire?

That was excessive and is the only thing stopping me from calling it a near perfect episode.

Jamie's confession and the look on Breinne's face the entire time was probably the best scene of the season...that's sayin something because there have been some pretty great scenes. When I first read asoiaf, I didn't care about Jamie's road to redemption, even his confession didn't move me. But this show and the acting has put a level of depth to the character that grabbed my attention and my sympathies.
