Indeed they did.


We get fixated on the 7-8 major houses acting as though they are in total control of their kingdom but they arent.

Theon is always masturbating about how the Greyjoys have ruled the IIs for 400 years. But since we know the that the Starks have held the North for, well, just about ever it just kinda gets engrained that those that are at the top of each kingdom will always be there. And we know that isnt so.

By the end of the series I want to see a major house die. Arryn is close, as is Targaryen. I think Tyrion is the only Lannister that makes it.

I don't think he (tyronion) survives, even if he is a dragon rider. I think he is gonna die protecting someone, he will end up dying with honor.

Melisandre is a strong red priestess, and she has been getting stronger as she waits at the Wall. The books are clear that Stannis is not Azor Ahai, and he will not sit the iron throne. Stannis has been the Ned Stark of books 2-5, an honorable man that readers will want to win, and he is taking action to move the story along, but, like Ned, he will be killed as we get closer to the Dragons vs. White Walkers battle.

I think it could end up 5 different ways as to who sits the iron throne, but I don't think it will be Stannis.

Stannis is not nearly as likable as Ned was. Ned also would not have disavowed his religion due to some magic.

Ned would never have let Mel kill his bro with a shadow baby. Stannis isn't someone that I honestly liked much at all until very recently, absolutely love him in the WoW Theon chapter.

I think you people have bought into the idea that the character who saves Westoros will be King. I dont. "Azor" or "The Prince that was Promised" or whatever, they will be warriors for humanity, not political winners.

Renly had it right, "warriors do not a king make", which does sound a bit like Yoda, whereas "war does not make one great."


Hell even the title the "Promised Prince" does not make the step to say he will be King.

Your trolling right? Stannis is a jealous, bitter, and vengefull man. Guy should die and the only reason to wish him victory is because the Boltons, Lannisters, and Greyjoys are worse. This reader does not like Stannis.

Found some tidbits on Tower of the Hand that he revealed some info at the KC Conquest last weekend.

Apparently it was going to be about 50k words and is over 250k, which is at least 500 pages I think and maybe quite a bit more. Also, apparently he has 3 new Dunk and Egg stories coming out next year.

I agree with this. The prince who was promised will by a hero that is spoken about like Lann the Clever or Bran the Builder but will not be king. The will transcend the iron throne.

Well the she-wolves of winterfell should pretty much be done though it got bumped from dangerous women, where his story in the book is now about the original dance with dragons.

They are short stories in anthologies. Do a search on Amazon to find the three anthologies.

The only way I think the hero of westeros becomes the ruler is if that hero is Dany.

Jon won't be king, stannis will flicker out somewhere along the way and I just can't imagine a scenario in which littlefinger wins

Littlefinger is lord of one of the kingdoms and lord protector of another. the vale probably has the most in tact forces, if he doesn't lose control there he could make a pretty big play once the others are done killing each other. I don't see him winning and believe he will be dead next book but he isn't in a bad position right now. he also has some sort of alliance with the Tyrell's. Who knows what will happen once margaery's current husband dies.

Not trolling, and maybe the Ned Stark comparison was off, since Ned was more likable, but on some level you root for Stannis and want to see him destroy the Boltons for their treachery, don't you?

talking with a bunch of people from work (many of whom i have gotten hooked on the show) and NOT ONE of them suspect the RW. Many are in agreement that Robb is going to take his new army with the Freys and sack Casterly Rock. Some think Tyrion and or Joffrey is going to get the ax. Others think Dany is now unstoppable and is going to set sail for KL at seasons end.

I have tried very hard not to be "that guy" who holds spoilers over their heads like a petulant little child with his new toy, but I seriously cannot wait for Monday morning. the fallout is going to be more entertaining than the show itself.

LF is the best player behind Tywin, but Tywin started with title and an army and kids to wed off.

I do like how everyone discounts Varys' other targaryen. Considering he and LF are the only two I think are competant enough to see the playing board, I give their horses they back the best chance.

There is no way the mummer's dragon (aegon) wins the iron throne outright, his general Connington has a short life expectancy, and the kid appears to be headstrong. I can see him winning for awhile, but he will eventually be unseated.

Well here is the problem, do you believe Varys just sets things in motion and let's them play out with little to no help?


I'm not sure he expected Dany to do well or even survive. It seems he likes aegon more than Dany or viserys. We can say the cheesemonger wanted Dany to have the stones to turn to dragons or that was just an accident. I think Varys hedges his bets at every corner.
