Yes, D&D are DB Weiss and David Benioff, the show runners of GoT

America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive.

I'm only just starting Feast for Crows, so I don't know if they kill her off, but what about Stannis' daughter. She more or less flies under the radar so far, but she'd have a claim.

I was under the impression that women take a back seat to all male heirs. The problem with Aegon is that many won't believe he is who he says he is, which is why Dany actually has a better claim.

My favorites are the ones questions the screenwriters and HBO for allowing this to happen!

The fun part is all of the tv viewers who think she's done.

And awesome that she's playing along...

either that or the show isn't bringing her back.

Haven't gotten far enough in FFC to know how important dead Cat is. They managed to hold the Red Wedding close, so I can see her playing along.

The description from the book was not flattering. Wonder why she's SO undead when Beric isn't as much- then again, he didn't float down the river for a while either.

I think it's the combination of her going mad right before she died - her brain just kind of snapped - and the three days in the drink.

Have they said if Catelyn Stark will come back as she did in the books?

They haven't said either way, but I think they will because of Brienne.

the show producers have showed a willingness to alter the looks of the characters, so they could easily bring her back but not damage her looks near as much as was depicted in the novels. especially since they did not show her clawing at her face like she did in the book. See also the scar on Tyrion's face rather than a missing nose, the lack of blue facial hair for Daario Naaharis, etc.

I think Cibolo has it. They aren't going to make her the complete freakshow she is in the books. That just hasn't been the pattern and it will turn off TV viewers. I would expect something closer to Beric.

For a second, I thought you were referencing Sheila Jackson Lee's voice instead of Samuel L Jackson's voice. Really changed my interpretation of your post and other events.

From the non-spoiler thread:

quote:
Rob's wife (Talisa?), was her family of any importance?

Could they enter the fray , bend on vengeance?

In terms of the show, what if Talisa has ties to the Ironbank of Braavos. I guess that doesn't make sense, her being from Volantis. This is me thinking my ideas through in real time. lol.

Basically, Talisa probably served only to let the readers know that Robb was no daddy.

Talisa's family is of no more importance than the Westerlings. Probably less, truth be told.

I think Talisa also increases the "horror" of what happened.

HBO should do their own version of Google's "It gets better," for all the non-readers out there threatening to quit the show now.

I think non-readers might assume that means they aren't done killing off the rest of the Starks.

Unless I'm mis-remembering, another protagonist doesn't die until Jon Snow, and that is still iffy. Maybe Quentyn or ygritte, but that's about it. We have a string of antagonists dying like Tywin, Balon, Joffrey, and Lysa. There is a general upswing after arya's fake death.

I honestly do not want the Boltons and Freys to fall. GRRM is making this series to be gritty and realistic; how many times in real life do the bad guys get away with it? There are some vile, genocidal aholes in the world that die of old age in their mansions. Breaking the established motif just to indulge fans in some emotional justice would be lame.

BS I want Arya and her Direwolf to kill all of them and eat the dragons for good measure.

Watching the RW took me back to the initial shock and dismay I experienced upon first reading it. At the time, I couldn't understand why an author would do it. My wife stopped reading the books after that chapter because (in her view) GRRM broke the trust between author and reader. By comparison, Ned's death was easily explained; it's the catalyst that drives all the rest of the action in the story. Without Ned's death, there is no story. But GRRM's reason for writing the RW is still very disappointing, and ultimately ridiculous. He claims that he knew Robb and Catelyn had to die because every reader would be expecting the eldest son to avenge his father. That's it? Really? To my mind, this is just lazy. It would have been a more impressive feat of writing to overcome the cliché without resorting to the cheap trick of simply killing the character. GRRM instead seems to be punishing readers for making the "mistake" of allowing themselves to become emotionally attached and invested in certain characters. If I'm being trained not to care about any specific character and the author keeps making writing blunders like the Meereenese Knot and splitting AFFC and ADWD into two disjointed, unsatisfying, separate books, why bother reading them? Now he says that the ending will be "bittersweet." F that. The only major characters worth rooting for now are Arya, Tyrion, Jon, Dany and Jaime. Should I now expect all of them to die because GRRM's overriding motivation is to avoid being predictable?

******* will never finish the books before he dies himself, so it is kind of a moot point regarding any kind of ending. Write your own because he will never finish.

Remember the "Stupid Ned Stark" meme? Robb wasn't stupid, but he did make mistakes. Betraying the Freys was the big one, but he also stubbornly lost the Karstarks. Not that I disagree with his decision there.

He also tried to get in bed with the Greyjoys, and that bit him (although, again, I would have trusted Theon too).

After all of that, it's almost unrealistic to have expected him to survive, much less beat the Lannisters - much less beat the Lannisters, Tyrells AND Greyjoys.

I remember when I read the books a few years ago how happy I was that they killed off catelyn. It was a shock and I felt bad that the north seemed doomed, but I was happy catelyn was dead. At least the annoying, talking catelyn was. Her and Sansa have to be the two most annoying characters in the books for me. The only purpose catelyn had was to show what's going on within the army of the north.

Can we submit one of those White House petitions to have Patchface written into the show for Season 4? Maybe he will be found among the wildlings and taken into Stannis' household as Shireen's fool rather than already being on Dragonstone all along.

A great compilation of many excellent tweets. I have been waiting for this moment since the show was announced and the community is certainly not disappointing.
