The beautiful game is coming back to the SEC’s most beautiful stadium.

Ahead of this summer’s stateside FIFA World Cup, Texas A&M’s Kyle Field will host an international friendly between Argentina and Honduras on June 6.

A press conference, hosted by TexAgs director of content David Nuño, is set for Thursday at 12:30 p.m. CT to announce the official details regarding the match.

Travis Brown of KBTX was first to report the two countries participating in June’s tune-up, and TexAgs has confirms those reports.

Headlined by living legend Lionel Messi, the White and Sky Blue have won the World Cup three times, including the most recent iteration in Qatar four years ago.

This June, the Argentinians are in a group with Algeria, Austria and Jordan as they aim to defend their title, while Honduras did not qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

This represents the second time an international soccer match has been held at the Home of the 12th Man. Two years ago, Brazil scored a 96th-minute winner by Endrick to defeat Mexico 3-2 in front of 85,249. Prior to that match, officials had hoped to break the “MexTour” attendance record of 90,526, set in 2010 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Similar to the Brazil-Mexico match, the rosters and team selections won’t be known for another few weeks. However, superstars are expected to play on the Aggieland pitch as this friendly will be one of the final tune-ups before the World Cup begins on June 11.

If Messi is in attendance in June, a capacity crowd of 102,773 could pack Kyle Field to its gills.

Additional information regarding ticketing and beyond is expected to be released at a later date.
