We should all be so lucky in the middle of the afternoon.
The whistle is a blowin and I am a goin... to go home for 1 last gear check and a good night of sleep in my own bed before a 10 hour road trip in the morning.

Got a good look at a giant herd of elk this morning. I've never seen cows look so good or have so many calves
Not sure where you are, but I had never seen northern New Mexico so green a few weeks ago.
A bit southeast of raton.
Cattle have done phenomenal up here this summer and it looks like the elk have fared the same

Just picked up a real good 3rd rifle cow tag off the leftover list! Same unit I'm taking my dad for his first rifle cow hunt. Simplifies this archery season for me a bit

Heading west.
Overdid an expeditionary hike but ruled out a lot of country. Am beat.
Found a bull in a godawful place. Only couple miles from camp tho. Got a couple hours of bushwhacking in the dark in my future tmw.

Progress today!
Spent all night packing and repacking for Montana. Everything should fit in 2 storage bins and the bow case, plus the empty coolers.
Have about 12lbs of elk marinating for a big run of jerky tomorrow.
Also booked my flight for my brothers idaho moose hunt.
2 weeks in MT then 2 weeks back at work and then I will try and sneak out for a week to help my brother pack out a moose. Then back to work for 2 weeks and then its another week for NM mule deer.
