Go turn off the water at the back flow preventer today, then turn the screw near it (little nipple things on the left of the image below) so the water in the lines drains/shoots out. I take an old towel and wrap it around it and then tape it on, and then cover the whole thing with a large garbage bag to keep it dry. Has worked well for 12 years and 2 houses.
Assuming there's no sprinkler blowout services available anywhere in the tine?

Leave the pitcocks/nipples open. That is to allow reflief for any remaining water that freezes in the PVB housing. Turn one of your zones on briefly also to relieve any remaining pressure.

If you have a cutoff in the ground just close it and open the two small drain valves. Do not close off the larger ball valves on the assembly…I've seen the metal housing crack due to water being trapped in the valve.

The large valves should be turned to 45 degrees.

Those are blended ensembles over a multi day period.
I'm an energy trader as a hobby and a long term weather watcher from September thru March.
There are a lot of extreme ensemble members on the table across all models. Right now, our range could be 10F below normal to 45 below.
The 500mb pattern is ripe and if we get a coastal low around the 17th and many are starting to model that, it's going to blow open the Arctic doors and dump into the Gulf.
The analog years on the CPC map is a who's who of Winter weather events along the gulf coast.
I'm not Houston proper but north of y'all in Montgomery County.
