Baby DBWS gets stuck in black widow web (one of the highest tensile strength materials known). Black widow gets huge meal once it works it's fangs between some scales. Spiders will eat whatever gets stuck in their webs and small vertebrates are definitely on the menu.

I was wondering how the snake got in the web in the first place. Did it crawl up there looking to eat the spider?

Probably trying to get at something else that was stuck in the spiders web. Think sabertooth cat going after mastodon stuck in the LaBrea Tar Pits. Doomed itself without knowing.

Nothing special but a nice looking Copperhead I found yesterday under a pile of brush I was moving/burning. SE Montgomery County. First one I've seen this year and we have a fair amount of wooded area to hold them. Neighbors in our acreage development seem to find them regularly.

This one was pretty interesting on the SE Texas Snake ID FB page. The poster said she was opening a farm gate and noticed movement then saw the snake.

I didn't get a pick but yesterday I was driving my Ranger through a pasture and saw a snake fly past me. I got out and tried to chase but this thing was moving so fast. I didn't get a great look but it was long 4ftish, looked yellow/reddish and fast. I'm guessing yellow bellied racer. Do they get their name from being quick?

They're learning to climb up on fences to avoid the hogs.

Wife got me a "Reptile Experience" thing for my birthday at a small place in the Spring area (Yes I'm like a giddy child when it comes to reptiles). My girls are a little small for it but got to take my niece, nephew, and friend and his daughter. Lots of fun taking kids and seeing them warm up to reptiles/snakes.

This is a Burmese Python.

This was a crossbreed between Burmese and a Reticulated. One of the coolest parts about this place was the number of Retics they had, all of them (20ish?) had different color morphs.

Tony the Tegu

Bullsnake

Milksnake

Legless Lizard

Some sort of Ratsnake from Vietnam (forgot actual name) Pretty snake - Red head and tail along with some fairly typical ratsnake patterns.

https://tgrexotics.com/

Place has a bunch of good stuff for kids, lots of different animals. We just did the reptile experience this time. Guys were pretty knowledgeable.

They had some North American snakes, some lizards, exotics, etc.

Would a copperhead on a wire like that be able to strike effectively?

Saw this on Facebook. Sorry I know this goes against the spirit of this thread but too dang cool to not share. Apologies to those that don't like these kind of posts.

What's wrong with posting an awesome leucistic cottonmouth?? I don't see any issue.

I think he means he thinks it not appropriate to borrow others pics and not post his own.

Personally I don't care. Cool snake.

No sir. I'm going to need a second opinion but am pretty sure that's a juvenile coachwhip... baby racers and coachwhips have always been hard for me.

Ttha is right... The baby DBWS is in the pic with the black widow at the top of the same page for comparison.

Awful picture, he squirted into gap between house foundation and back porch slab. Any ideas based on blurry photo? Diameter about size of adult thumb.

Edit: I flushed him out with water hose. I'll post a full size photo of him later if someone wants to take a stab at IDing him based on photo above first.

I think it's a checkered garter snake per the googles.

What's a similar looking snake that would be in San Angelo area and would like to eat a fresh dove kill? About 3-4' long. Last year I shot a dove and about 20 mins later stumbled upon a black and white snake that had it in its mouth. Scared the hell out of me.

Bullsnake, would be my guess for that area. Pretty cool story!

Edit: I missed the black and white part... not sure

Nope... It's a checkered garter snake... I was wrong. Just saw the follow-up post.

Initially jumped out of my skin when I accidentally uncovered this guy this morning. I just saw the bands out of the corner of my eye and immediately thought cotton mouth until I gave him a second look. After quizzing the kid's as to what he was and if he was venomous or not he was sent on his way

Good choice! Broad-banded watersnake, non-venomous. They're really good looking snakes, too
