Edit: In fact it is the largest native species of snake in the U.S.
Most of the time they float on top except for when the are hunting. It is pretty obvious when comparing how they swim to get from one place to another.Counterpoint said:
Regarding PUTU's first pic, is the "swims with its whole body on the surface vs. swims with just its head on the surface" a real way to tell cottonmouths from water snakes or is that just an urban legend?
