Is this the same as the Northern Blacktail that is found all over Arizona? I have watched quite a few herping videos from out there and they have some awesome species. They Arizona Black Rattler and the Sidewinder are my favorites

Something different fromthe weekend. I was clearing out a culvert and it came out. NE Houston.

It was approximately 18" long and 1.5" tall.

They are pretty big for fish bait and not very commonly seen. That one is good sized too. I'd be pretty excited to find one in the wild.

On our lease in Gillespie County. Was coiled up in grass at bottom of feeder leg with me walking back and forth for 5-7 minutes before I spotted him (!) Waiting for the fox squirrels that steal our corn. Had 11 eleven rattles and a button, and measured about five feet.

It has a juvenile color pattern and it is relatively thin. Cottonmouths get fatter as they get old... much like me.
