Indigos are my favorite snake. They eat rattlers. That makes them cool. Hog noses are a distant second.

Crossed paths with this guy over the weekend. Was leaving the stand and looked like a huge log in the road. Right at 6' and had 15 rattles with a few broken off. Couldn't wrap my hand around him. Biggest rattlesnake shot on our lease in 15+ years. Scares the hell out of me, as a snake like this would hit my kiddo at about the waist. Snake boots that are 6" tall are worthless. Will make a beautiful tanned hide though.

We have waist high chaps for the 5&7yo - that's one that could challenge those heights for sure

In case of a bite, I would find out which hospital closest to you has antivenom that way treatment time is not lost.

Upshur county, just now. He went straight into a tree, so I'm guessing Rat, but the brown tail has me second guessing. Recently molted or about to?

Gracias. That was my original call to my 11 year old son until the snake climbed in the tree. He flattened his head when I waved my coat at him, which I've never seen a rat do.

Mom found this in the backyard, they're all nope ropes to her. West Houston but backs up to a creek.

Got the rattlesnake skinned out and into the tanning solution this afternoon. The skin will sit in there for about 7 days and will then dry for 2-3 before putting him on a stained board for display.

i run around around a lake along the gulf coast and hop over nerodia and chciken snakes all the time.
