Unfortunately I didn't get a photo or kill it for that matter, but I got hit in the top of the foot by an approximately 12 inch copperhead last night.
Pretty damn painful experience.

I did. In ER for 12 hours. They did all the marking. Going back in the morning for a 24 hour check. Swelling moved up from ankle to mid calf over the last 12 hours but not to much.
Whats all that writing and drawing about?
They tracked the swelling every 30 minutes for 12 hours. Marked increase and time over that period.

Their climbing abilities are amazing. I saw one climb a vertical brick wall to get to a wren's nest.

Nothing good. I replaced a sink and was dumping a bucket of water into a flower bed. The bed was one step into the grass and that's all it took.

Lucky you didnt walk out of there with a bill for crofab. Some people will argue that once the swelling and bruising crosses a major joint you call it a moderate envenomation which would indicate therapy. Not saying that I would or would not have given it, there is way more to the decision than some pictures online, I'm just noting that I've definitely seen crofab given for bites that look like that. Scheduled tylenol and plenty of water for the next few days

I was kind of expecting that but the doctor said unless the swelling spread all the way to the groin I didn't need it, and maybe not even then.
Followed up with doctor this morning (36 hours post bite). Swelling has spread to mid calf and could expect some more. Anywhere there is swelling it's painful to the touch but improving. Discoloration is also improving.
A friend got tagged by a rattlesnake (being stupid). He was picking reptile mites off of the snake. He felt sorry for it. He handled venomous snakes regularly (had some copperheads and rattlesnakes at home). A fang got loose and.... 10+ vials of crofab later....quite a high bill.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.
