Legacy Watch:

Tim Duncan:

  • Games: 11th with 1331. 75 games puts him at 1406 and in 7th place, past greats like Clifford Robinson.
  • Rebounds: 8th with 14644. 324 to jump him up to 6th past Karl Malone and Robert Parish. He has had over 700 each of the past two years.
  • Blocks: 6th with 2942. 122 moves him to 4th past DRob and Eaton. He's had more than that in each of the last 3 years.
  • Points: 14th with 25974. 972 points moves him past Hakeem for 10th all time. He has had over 1050 points in every non-strike year of his career. Tim Duncan and Kareem would be the only two players that are top ten in points, rebounds and blocks in NBA history.
  • All-NBA: 15 Selections. One more selection and Duncan will be alone in first place with 16. Kobe also has 15.
  • All-Defense: 15 selections. No one else has more than 12.

More Legacy Watch:

Matt Bonner:

  • Make 21 threes to move up to 2nd all-time in threes made as a Spur with 662, passing Bruce Bowen. That will also put him about halfway there in catching Manu Ginobili with almost 1300.
  • Play in 68 games and he moves from 10th to 6th in games played as a Spur past Sean Elliott, Avery Johnson, Bruce Bowen and James Silas.

Danny Green:

  • Make 52 threes to move up to 2nd all time in threes made as a Spur. Sorry Coach B.

Tim Duncan:

  • Make 231 FTs to pass Robinson for most FTs made in a career as a Spur. He's made about that each of the last three years.
  • Block 13 shots to pass Robinson for most blocks in a career as a Spur.

Tony Parker:

  • Turn the ball over four more times to knock George Gervin out of #2 in a career with the Spurs. We're all pulling for you, Tony.

LaMarcus Aldridge:

  • Needs four smiles to move past Kawhi Leonard for 381st in smiles while playing for the Spurs.

In watching the first half, LA looks out of sink (which is to be expected) and a little out of shape. David West is going to be a great addition. He's hitting the boards hard and has a great touch around the basket and a good midrange jumper. Will be great in the second unit. Anderson looked solid, comfortable in the offense and didn't force anything. I think he'll be able to contribute 12 minutes during the season. Out of the players vying for the last roster spot, Butler looked impressive. He was moving great in the offense and in transition, knocking down open shots. Simmons looked a little bit out of his element.

Kawhi looks even more comfortable on offense. Without Tony, he was really being assertive, creating a lot of open looks and doing some nice things in the post. Patty already appears to be in season-form. Night and day from last year.

West actually has a better mid range shot than LaMarcus, especially top of the key and elbows. Elite catch and shoot mid-range player.

For his career, West shoots .473 from 16-23 feet. Dirk Nowitzki shoots .477. LeBron shoots .388. Tim Duncan shoots .407. TheMarcus shoots .420.

Last year, stat dork Kirk Goldsberry named West the 12th best shooter in the league.

Whole team looked out of sync last night. This is definitely going to take awhile to build up the chemistry. They won't be world beaters from Day 1 that's for sure.

Saying that, Kawhi looked excellent last night. Guy is a star. Aldridge is definitely out of shape and out of sync a little but most players in the league are at this point.

Was surprised to see Rasual Butler play well. He is making a strong case for that last roster spot.

Anyway, there's 5 more pre-season games before the start of the season so plenty of time to gel.

The thing you have to worry about with a guy like Butler is that he's an experienced vet fighting to stay in the game. He can give you his all during the preseason when everyone else is playing 75%, but does he have enough left in the tank for the grind?

Parker is extremely important. His days of blowing by people every possession are over but this offense doesn't run without him regardless. He makes everything go smoothly out there.

Some kinks to work out but the renovations were a success. Building looks really nice.

I've got two tickets to the preseason game Tuesday I need to unload.

New seats, new giant video board, new stats boards in the corners of the balconies.

New bars on every level of the building, new VIP entrances, new fan shop, new whataburger location (and it will face outwards as well, to serve food during non game times).

Lots of cosmetic work to give it a less aged feel.

It's not like we're hurting for shooters. He'd be nice to have at the end of the bench and have an Austin Daye game where he drops 30 randomly, but all things considered, we won't notice him whether he's on the team or not.

Reggie Williams and Rasual Butler are the last 2 standing for that 15th final roster spot. Butler has played well this camp and pre-season. Certainly deserves the nod if you judge solely on that. Not sure where he truly fits though and I'm not sure I want him eating into the minutes of some of our younger guys (Anderson, Simmons). We should know by now what Williams brings to the table and it doesn't appear to be a whole lot.

Not sure we shouldn't just roll with 14 and keep that last spot open like we have done in the past.
