It's going to get snapped by GS because Pop is going to rest everybody so it really doesn't matter.

nah. Spurs win comfortably, after Pop rips them for not respecting an opponent in the 1st half. Disappointing they need that lesson at this point though.

I don't think the Spurs are playing poorly, it's just that the Pelicans are playing better than expected.

we are watching 2 different games then. The Spurs are leaving them wide open and then just jacking up crap shots without running any actual plays. Spurs are sandbagging

Of course Danny Green is having the best game of anyone.

For the Spurs claiming they don't give a damn about the home record, they sure are playing key guys a lot against this crap team.

I really like Green and am pulling for him, but his performance is the one thing keeping this team from reaching its potential. Like Guitarsoup posted, he is the one player on the Spurs that has a measurable negative impact this season. That isn't good. He gets many more open looks in high percentage spots on the Spurs than he would elsewhere so using league averages is a bit misleading. Plus he got that big contract to be a 3 and D player and right now the 3 part is missing.

The good news is that he has shown sustained shooting success in the past so I still believe he can get hot in the playoffs.
welp

How great would it be if we hand them loss #10 though?

best case scenario: We beat GS at home and go 41-0, then go ruin their perfect home record and give them 10th loss at the same time and they only tie bulls record.

Report: Spurs Angry with Manu Ginobili Over Leaked Tim Duncan Video

San Antonio Spurs players are furious with Manu Ginobili after a secretly-taped video of Tim Duncan speaking with Ginobili was leaked to the media. In the video, a transcript of which can be found below, Tim Duncan reveals that he occasionally stays up past his 10pm bedtime and sometimes doesn't make his bed in the morning:

Ginobili: You stayed up until 10:08? How old were you?
Duncan: Yeah. I was 39.
Ginobili: Hell nah.
Duncan: How is that wrong?
Ginobili: What about making your bed the next morning? You ever not do that?
Duncan: Nah man. Well, one time. It was at a hotel. I felt bad, though.

Sources close to the team confirmed that tension was high in the Spurs locker room amidst the ongoing rumors that Duncan occasionally does not finish all of his vegetables at dinner.

The Spurs already have the best home winning streak to start a season. They really don't have anything else to prove but I'm not sure Pop completely tanks both games against GS. Another win against them could be big for confidence. We have a couple of key guys that have never been this close to a championship before and it is still going to be tough to get through the playoffs.

I think that's a double-edged sword though.

Do you risk trying to actually win and then getting dominated by GS ala the January game and leave that in the players' heads right before the playoffs? Do you risk injury to Tim, Kawhi, TP, Manu?

I don't know the right answer. If the home game vs the Warriors was first, I would say he tries to go for it. But since it's after and the 3rd-to-last game, I just don't see Pop playing his guys too hard.

Yes it will be interesting. You never know with Pop.

If the playoffs started today the Thunder would play the Trailblazers. I think that could be the one first round series that might produce an upset. I still think the Thunder wins but Lillard and Mcollum could at least make it interesting.

They will yell really loud at the end of the bench in their suits to show how much they care.

I honestly don't know if you back away from the challenge. Team is well rested anyways as he is still keeping players under 30 minutes a game for the most part.
But again I don't know the correct answer either and this is just my opinion, I just think you go out there and try to win. Rest them other games. I could easily see a Spurs first round playoff sweep of whomever they play as well so they will get their rest in

Is it me or does it seem like our play has fallen off lately? Doesn't seem like we are where we need to be right now. Maybe it's because we are locked in to the second spot and aren't playing with any urgency. But I'm not as confident going into the playoffs in two weeks as I'd like to be.
Natasha Romanoff

We were playing great until we stopped running an offense in the 3rd and our defense suffered because of TOs. I think it's more a lack of urgency/focus because we aren't playing for anything right now save the home streak.

I'm not too concerned. Lamarcus is locked in. Kawhi is playing great. Even Manu has had some solid games. Our 3 point shooting outside of Kawhi has me a bit concerned, but other than that I'm feeling pretty darn good.
Sher Thing

I feel the opposite. I feel like things are setting up perfectly for the Spurs. Warriors keep running themselves to death for some regular season record and the Spurs are able to rest, watch minutes, and continue to let the new guys get acclimated. Watching Aldridge throw up 30+ on a nightly basis has me feeling more confident than I have all season. There were some serious "fit" questions earlier in the year with him and that is all but forgotten at this point.

If I'm Pop, I don't even send the big three on the upcoming 3 game road trip. gives them a week off at a good time of the season and they still have GS and OKC at home to get ready for playoffs.

Seems crazy to think this when the team just set a franchise record for wins, but I tend to agree with you. I think the Spurs and Warriors records are partially a product of overall crappier competition top to bottom in the league.

Both teams are great and neither has looked invincible lately. Spurs offense gets awful for long stretches and the Warriors go on defensive vacations for stretches. Should make for an interesting playoffs.

And I agree with whoever alluded to the Spurs playing their rest games and minutes better than Golden State. You never know how that might come into play by late May.

Have you been watching the Warriors?
Enzo The Baker

I have. Even with their injuries, the Warriors have still had a good shot to win every ball game they have lost recently.

But when you look at the cohesiveness of the Spurs offense and Warriors offense, there's a pretty big drop-off IMO.
