Kawhi has a future in the league I think.

That response was all kinds of perfection.

I think Bruce finished second that year too. IIRC they were "punished" for being on the same team.

I think that had a lot to do with Duncan and Bowen never winning DPOY. That and Pop never made up stats and campaigned like Carlisle did for Metta World Artest

We'll never in a million years catch the Warriors, but we're sitting pretty comfortably at #2, 4.5 games ahead of OKC.

As long as we stay above #4, I'm feeling good going into the playoffs.

Were on pace to win like 65 games

We are a damn good team. That said, I feel like we've had a relatively easy schedule so far.

Once our offense gels, we are going to be scary good.

I will be interested to see what the defense looks like against the elite offenses. Golden State, OKC, Cleveland and the Clippers at full strength. The ultimate game of chicken will be the Spurs big lineup vs. the GSW "lineup of death"

The good news is that with LMA, we have many different matchup options for every team in the league.

Tony looked fresh last night to me.

I don't get many Spurs games live where I live. Glad to see that.

Hoping that Pop can keep our guys healthy and rested while maintaining a top seed.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- LaMarcus Aldridge missed his first seven shots in the San Antonio Spurs' 103-83 win Thursday night over the Memphis Grizzlies, but rebounded to hit 7-of-8 down the stretch.

But throughout Aldridge's early struggles, veteran forward Tim Duncan remained an uplifting force.

"He was in my ear the whole first half, just saying, 'Just stay with it. Don't start getting passive. Just be patient with your shot. Keep looking for it,'" Aldridge said.

LMA has not been as advertised so far, but with leadership like that, it's hard to imagine him struggling for much longer.

I think he's been better than expected in some areas. In particular, his defense has been exceptional. He's picked up the concepts very quickly and his presence is a very significant upgrade from Splitter. I don't think I've seen a Spurs team block this many shots since DRob retired.

Offensively, he just looks tentative to me. In Portland he would never pass up and semi-open mid-range jumper. Here, he passes up quite a few or hesitates and shoots out of rhythm. The Spurs are also posting him up a lot and I don't recall that being his primary strength.

The most pleasant aspect is he's not producing anywhere near what he's used to and yet the team is winning more than any team he's been on. He's got to be feeling pretty good about his decision.

I have been able to watch quite a few of the games lately and he looks better to me than he has in 5 years. He is specially playing better defense than I have seen in quite a while. He and Manu both look fresh. If they can keep that up all year I like our chances.

Honestly, I think we match up pretty well against GS. I like our chances in a 7 game series.

: don't throw anything:

When Timmy retires, what are we all going to do? Do we need to create a "safe space" somewhere?

Same here. Green is a solid defender, but he gives up a lot of size and strength to Duncan and LMA. Plus, you probably need to put Green on Kawhi, the way Kawhi is playing now. The Spurs have Kwahi and Danny Green to throw at Curry and Klay, which is better than any team in the country. We have the right guys to match up against Curry/Klay and I think they are going to struggle to match up against our front court.

All comes down to Parker this year, I think.

I refuse to think or talk about it. He will never retire. He's a cyborg.

My wife has never been to an NBA game. We are going to head to San Antonio for a playoff game this year. I want her first game to be a proper Spurs game in a great atmosphere.

Boban and McCallum sent to the D League today

Good for them. Boban needs to polish his overall game and McCallum needs to learn how to run the offense and distribute.

Agreed. McCallum could be solid if he gets the offensive system down

That was a nice way of saying it. Truth is, he's just a giant body who hasn't been coached how to use his size effectively.

Tony is currently 5th in the league in FG % with .567. 1-4 are Faried, Whiteside, Howard and Kanter. Pretty good sign of how well he is feeling.

Haven't watch as many games as I would hope, but the few I have has me thinking how great of a signing David West was.

He's having a pretty great first quarter tonight.

The bench was a definite spark in the first half. Boris with 12, West with 8 and both with some nifty passes.

Game got a little close at the end (Celtics just don't give up--and SA took their foot off the gas a little after leading by as much as 17), but thank Manu, Kawhi, and Danny for their clutchness (especially at the free throw line) down the stretch.

The officiating was atrocious throughout. Tony Parker's last foul was called after Thomas literally grabbed Tony and took him to the ground after releasing a failed three point attempt. And he was awarded 3 free throws. Outrageous.
