Patty Mills has an insanely quick release. News flash, I know.
Green had a good night shooting the ball, but that wasn't an accident. Compare how he was catching the ball tonight to previous games. Tonight they were coming off drive and kicks, so the ball was coming out of the paint. I've talked about it before, but catching the ball facing the basket helps a shooter a LOT. Most of his shots this year have come on on kicks around the perimeter, mostly deep on the wing, and usually without much space. It's pretty tough for most shooters to catch, pivot, and shoot with a defender in their face. Gotta either give them time to turn and get squared or kick the ball out instead of around for a more natural quick release on the contested three.
Lots of routine shots rattled in and out. If a couple more of those go, this one may have been out of hand by the start of the fourth quarter.
Kawhi had a monster game, but Parker was the guy the Suns couldn't figure out in the half court. I think the Spurs need to put a little more focus on him early in games. Make the defense defend Parker and it will open things up for Aldridge and Timmy. I'm also a huge fan of Parker's defensive intensity this year. He is fighting through screens, keeping defensive position, and closing on shooters so much better than last year.
As good as Kawhi is, he still bails out the defense a little too much with those contested fadeaways sliding to his left a foot or two inside the arc. He can make those when he steps into them cleanly, but it doesn't usually work well after a change of direction or contact with the defender. However, he is insanely reliable on the fast break and once he gets a shoulder past going to his right it's a bucket.
