If the Spurs can figure out how to run consistent offense without turnovers against the Warriors they could make a series of it in the playoffs. Holding them to under 40% shooting is not realistic.

I did like what I saw on the offensive glass. To me, that is the key to killing a small ball team.

Never mind I get what you're saying. It's the same thing I'm saying. The spurs could go undefeated but there is no way the Warriors lose twice to them and also lose to someone else. At least much less likely

EDIT you beat me to it, nevermind

Currently. It is 1-1.

What do they go to after head to head?
Division record, then conference record.

GSW is 14-1 in division, Spurs 10-2. Warriors only have 2 division games left, against the Clips and the Jazz. So if neither of those teams beats the, Spurs have to go 13-0 down the stretch to beat them.

EDIT: 3, they also have one left against Portland.

They only go to division record for teams in the same division

That said, don't the Warriors also have a better conference record?

I liked the defense tonight, and I also liked crashing the offensive boards hard any time they got good position. Warriors can't run while the ball is getting tipped up. Key is sprinting back on long rebounds and getting big once the rebound has been secured. Aldridge was trying to flip it up fast instead of getting his footing and throwing it down. Happened several times off offensive rebounds and passes.

Per NBA.com,

quote:
The following outlines the NBA's playoff tie-break rules and procedures based on the final regular seasonstandings:
Tiebreaker Basis
(-) Tie breaker not needed (better overall winning percentage)
(1) Division leader wins tie from team not leading a division
(2) Head-to-head won-lost percentage
(3) Division won-lost percentage
(4) Conference won-lost percentage
(5) W-L Percentage vs. Playoff teams, own conference
(6) W-L Percentage vs. Playoff teams, other conference
(7) Net Points, all games

Also why does this matter? There's no way the Spurs can split those two games and still catch the Warriors

Both teams are currently 37-5 in the conference.

I guess it might matter in determining which other Texas team we get to put the beatdown on in the first round

I don't care to hear about the Warriors shooting poorly. We played outstanding defense. We threw the kitchen sink at curry. Every single screen, we didn't have a problem having the off man push him back off the 3 line. Also, no ones hand ever dropped. Diaw was great at keeping 1 hand up at all times. He held it so long that he even gave them a driving lane if they wanted it. It worked perfect. Sometimes when great teams match up, it just results in a sloppy struggle because of the intensity and that's what we saw tonight.

It was great seeing Aldridge wanting it. He's comfortable and it's showing in a big way. Kawhi was calling for it up top in the half court too. I did feel really bad for Duncan on the bench. It sucks seeing him there.

It'll be interesting to see how the Warriors battle the defensive switching next game. They will certainly have a plan for it.

Everyone has been switching everything on the Warriors lately. OKC did it and it worked for a half. They know what to do. But in the end it's always about mano a mano defense.

I think they will take it to the basket more and look to draw fouls. If they can collapse the defense a hair they can get their outside shots off better.

We saw Kawhi get 4 fouls that were all BS against very finesse offense with super high pick and roll. If the Warriors had driven inside all night and bring their pick and roll lower, the fouls might pile up against the nba darlings.

Yup, Aldridge and Leonard on the boards was the difference. Clean up the turnovers, get a few less ticky-tack calls, keep up the boards -- we're good to go.

I went tonight. Big Spurs fan but was hoping for some Curry magic in the process. But man, Spurs defense was just incredible. That wa's amazing to watch. That building is freaking fun to be in during a big game. Great atmosphere.

I had early entry tonight and got to watch Curry do his early shoot around, and I will say that he was off from the very start. He never even looked comfortable in warmups and it carried over to the game. His release looked off. Did they say anything on tv? Was he hurt or something? Like I said, our group talked about it before the game started, he just looked completely out of rhythm. Not taking anything away from the Spurs defense, which was legit, but he was so off, it made me wonder.

Oh, and I just went back to search you. This is your first post on this basketball board in the last 365 days. We thank you for the backhanded ESPN like comment, but we wish you and your Warriors no luck.

I disagree slightly. In the end, it's about all 5 of yours guys playing great defense. The problem that other teams have had is they don't play consistent, stingy, team defense on the Warriors. They have a let down at some point. What we saw last night was a team who knew the game plan, is comfortable playing together, and did not let up on the defensive pressure for more than one series at a time.

I felt bad for Tim, but I figure he'll get more PT when Bogut is playing. When Draymond is the 5, Tim just can't keep up. Hell, Timmy in his prime would probably struggle a little to keep up guarding a guy like Draymond. Not as badly of course, but that's a bad matchup for Tim no matter what.

And we have to remember, Duncan probably cares and was maybe a little frustrated, but I bet he cares most about winning. And last night him sitting was the best recipe we had to win.

Get the F out of here with this BS. I never wish injury on another person, but I was hoping Curry caught a major case of PMS cramps and would never wish for him to find magic.

You don't have to post on the basketball board to be a fan. Also, if you don't go to many games why is it bad that you'd both like to see a win and a good game by the NBAs reigning superstar? If you went to 1 game in the 90s you'd love it to be a crazy good Jordan game to remember forever.

Yeah, wishing someone cramps and to play bad, makes me such a bad person. Maybe you've missed the football game threads where people wish real injuries on college kids. Again, I don't wish an injury on anyone, but I sure as hell don't want to see "magic" when they are playing my team.

Did you pull for a little Vince Young and Colt McCoy magic against us? How about when we beat Colt and the sips, did you talk about how we won, but it was because the other team didn't play well? I can appreciate the greatness of Curry, but I sure don't want to see it against the Spurs. The post I replied to was a very odd first post for this board and you won't ever convince me he/she is a Spurs fan.
