Agree that it was good to see them win it down the stretch. Go Spurs Go!!
quote:I agree with the hack a Jordan comment. It took them out of a rhythm but we couldn't score at all during that stretch. IIRC last year in the playoffs the same thing happened.
This is the first game that has been played at playoff intensity.
I do not like the Clippers. Chris Paul grabs and holds off the ball constantly. Not a fan of the officiating this game.
Great win after some sloppy defense early.
I like putting Patty on Red**** because he can slip past screens and he's quick enough to recover to Red****'s change of pace. Leonard on Paul was good tonight too, but he has a hard time getting through screens when the Clippers screeners slide and shove like they do in the playoffs.
I think in a playoff series the Spurs need to abandon hack-a-Jordan in favor of trying to run the Clippers into the ground with pace and size and depth. Too much rest for a relatively shallow bench with all the hacks. Also, I'm starting to get the idea that JVG doesn't like that strategy.
quote:That's what it seemed like to me. I think I even ran some numbers on it. Offensive efficiency goes way down on the possession after a free throw, especially compared to after a missed shot or a turnover. Transition, semi-transition, and secondary break buckets are extremely efficient, whereas every time a free throw is shot three guys are already back and the other two always beat the ball back.

Big game coming up Monday. The Spurs play the 16-9 Pacers, and the two best two-way small forwards in the game will go at it.

I love Kawhi and PG13, but LBJ is still the best SF on the planet.

For people who watched. How did we defend Paul George? 1 on1 or with trapping and double teaming? He made 1 fg all night. Like 1/14. That's insane.
quote:Agree. Kawhi did a good job carrying the load, but it seemed like most of George's shots were after switches. I think George only got 1 attempt in the paint all night and Timmy murdered that attempted dunk.quote:

Didn't let him get to the basket, gave him mid range jumped and then contested like hell. Lots of help defense clogging driving lanes etc.

Points in the Paint
Spurs 62
Pacers 38
quote:Totally agree. Kawhi led the team in assists tonight. And Parker is looking more like his old self than in several years. He seems to be waiting and turning it on when he needs to which is great because he finishes the game so well.quote:Boris matched up against a little guy is just. so. inevitable.

This year he is able to feel out the defense, improvise and react after he has gone into his move, and pass significantly better.
Parker is back. Physically he looks every bit as good as when he was in the MVP discussion. He's being asked to carry a much lighter load so he will not get that kind of buzz (especially in a league run by Steph Curry), but the move tonight where he split the double team, jumped, faked a floater, pulled the ball down as he slid between two help defenders, and finished with a reverse layup was the most air I've seen him get in years.
quote:I think thats the most belittling thing you could possibly say after beating a team by double digits
I was pretty impressed with the Pacers. Offensively and defensively they seem to have very good fundamentals.
