No way. This crap has gone on way too long. The COVID board is wide open if you want a safe space.

Everyone else would like to get back to normal without our public officials and media trying to scare everyone back into a hole.

Also - didn't you get COVID and the vaccine? Would think you'd be as ready to move on as any.
IMO Ol Jock 99 has been the most balanced poster on this thread. No need for a personal attack.

I do not have adequate words to describe just how ready I am for this to be over. And thanks 752bro4.

So are people who have actually had the virus, and now the vaccine, still triple masking?

Just curious?

I never doubled, but I was wearing an N95 to the grocery and CostCo. Happily going back to a surgical now.

Everyone? Hardly. Would love everything to get back to normal, but that's not possible for a few more months until everyone has had the opportunity to get the vaccine. Then we can have that conversation - but that's more of an end of May timeframe. Until then, the prudent thing is to continue social distancing and masks.
Correcting for science.

Same. Also I realize it's anecdotal, but wife is a middle school nurse in a school of over 1000 kids in person since August. Thus far the only known in-school transmission has occurred among kids during lunch (unmasked in small groups) and from unmasked group parties outside of school. Very little to no spread amongst the students while masked in class. Wife also stayed masked and was in contact with multiple positive COVID students (she's been doing COVID tests in her nurse clinic since September) but never got it.

Or maybe this thing isn't quite as contagious or virulent as we've been led to believe.

We eradicated the flu by social distancing and mask and over 500,000 people have died related to Covid.

See, I just don't put much stock in "related". Dying "from Covid" is a whole lot different than dying "with Covid". As soon as the medical industry had a financial incentive to claim Covid as the cause of death, probable cause of death, or related cause of death, etc., then I pretty much quit listening to any of the numbers being reported. It's completely unverifiable. I don't doubt that half a million people have died, just that Covid was the cause for all of em.

Why are people so invested in this talking point? At a minimum it comes off as callous and arrogant. As if the pain and suffering so many felt was pointless because perhaps 50k people? 100k? died of multiple causes. As if their pain and suffering is now less for the pandemic, and we should I suppose vilify them for making us take precautions for one longer day.

What would you tell a family then, that had a member die of a heart attack while treated for Covid? That they should do what call the media, the health department? I would like to know. What would you have them say?

This whole "financial incentive" thing was some fictional fake news nonsense on facebook. I would challenge you to provide any evidence that coding a death for CV would net you one penny more from anyone over a heart attack with the same treatment plan.

It's no secret that Medicare/Medicade pays out a 20% add-on for cases with a positive Covid test.

Fact: Hospitals have lost significant revenue due to voluntary procedure cancellation
Fact: Hospitals have lost significant revenue from people delaying regular and emergency visits

Why is it so hard to believe that hospital administrators would look to fill the gap in revenue through readily available options....Covid diagnosis for unrelated causes of death being a primary focus.

It's either that or the stories about gunshot victims and vehicle accident victims having Covid at death are from the most incompetent hospitals on planet Earth.

It is either or, there is no middle ground. But it's cool, y'all need to keep up the hysteria while more liberal/socialist policies get enacted out of fear. We get it.

Now that we've established hospitals/doctors do, in fact, get paid more for COVID patients on Medicare it will be enlightening to learn in a few years how much Medicare fraud happened becasue of it.

The government enabled an avenue to cheat while most hospitals were losing their ass financially. Considering we already have millions in fraud every year there will be here as well. We just may not know about it until the dust settles.

I also look forward to the facts around the "eradication" of the flu assuming we ever actually get them. I'm sure there were was zero noise or dirtiness in that data at all.

If greatly curtailing and disrupting society for four to six months out of the year is deemed the fix to "eradicate" it every year then that is not an ROI that makes sense, obviously.

Dont hospital groups get compensated for positive Covid tests and get bubkiss on positive flu tests? No chance for overlap there.

I'm not sure about that. Testing in general was covered in that patients didn't have to cost share but saw nothing on positive cases.

Hospitalizations are so low too, 268 in Dallas County and 183 in Collin Co. I drive by the old Smith & Wollensky restaurant where there used to be hundreds of cars lined up all day long, since the storm I've seen maybe 10 at the most.
