This thread has taught me a lot. I was hammered last night about 1130 at my brothers new ranch and we were driving around and saw a big ass snake. Bunch of people demanded shooting it. I said it was a rat snake and was drunk enough to pick it up and give them a lesson on how it's a good snake. Haven't ever touched a snake before.

I know. Definitely wasn't bragging about the "getting drunk and playing with snakes" part. More so the "I'm saving snakes that I previously would have killed and teaching others the same". Had there been any doubt I wouldn't have done it.

Last weekend there were two YBWS on the creek that they all said were cottonmouths and to shoot. After I told them they were not one idiot shot one of them and then I gave them a lesson on the vertical lines and how triangular heads don't mean anything, etc. This thread (and the previous 4 or so that I've been on) has taught me a lot about snakes.

Finally saw a reptile on my lands today while mowing. I have an acre and a half in East Tennessee in the country, spend a lot of time outdoors, and have not seen a reptile yet.

Saw this five lined skink crawling away as I was mowing. At first, I thought it was a snake and I got all excited. But, any reptile I see is a bonus.
