Vegas race (although loathed by Max and others) was an amazing time. You zip in, you zip out… 10 min after the checkered flag you are in a casino with beverage and your favorite bet working.

From personal experience, I can say he's not well-liked by me.

Before the season started, the FIA changed how they applied penalties. In past years they would make people give places back. This year they explicitly stated that they would no longer do that. It was up to each team to decide whether to give the place back, and if it didn't happen the incident would be referred to the stewards for a possible time penalty.

I am surprised how many people do not remember this. It's not just you. I don't know you to know whether you should remember it. I'm talking about big-time F1media people who had the same thought as you.

I do not think Checo should be fired in between seasons. Red Bull needs predictability, and Daniel's injury did not give them time to see if he could regain his form. There is simply no one else to put in the second RB seat. Liam is too green and would become the next victim in the line of Gasly and Albon. Daniel is still an unknown on his current form. Yuki will never sniff that seat because of his volatile temperament. That only leaves Checo.

I do think that Daniel's results have been promising enough that Checo will be on a very short leash for 2024. If we get to late April or May and McLaren is sniffing at RB's heels because Checo is underperforming they will not hesitate to yank Checo from that seat for Daniel as long as Daniel looks halfway decent.

Checo seems to be on the other side of his, "I will never be as good as Max" internal crisis, but a lot of damage has already been done. Even this newest, often-on-the-podium Checo is still not a patch on the early-season race-winning Checo.

Daniel, on the other hand, is far on the other side of his own, "I will never be as good as Max" internal crisis, and his stints at Renault and McLaren have humbled him enough to make him happy to accept the role of Valtteri Bottas.

There seemed to be a concerted effort by many naysayers to try and torpedo the perception of the Vegas GP. For all the "woohoo! Dis gonna be awesome!" I got from FOM and Liberty, the adverse reaction was many times louder. It seemed like no one took a wait-and-see approach. They just decided to hate it because they wanted to hate it.

After it was over, Max changed his tune.

The FIA only issues 5s penalties now. It's normally not nearly enough, and it's become just a price drivers are willing to pay to get away with illegal moves.

In this case, however, it was enough. Max required the safety car to take this race.

Aston chooses Tina Hausman. I missed her in Winter Series but she was super good in Italian F4 and Euro4, she kept improving and even outqualified her team mate Deligny (who is a Red Bull Junior...) a few times.

Headed to Miami GP next year strictly for F1 Academy since it's not coming back to COTA, just need to find a way to get a support paddock pass lol.
