It still feels like, in today's state of world politics, China is still a very risky scheduling every year. Until that changes, they should probably move that race to another venue. I'm sure France, Germany, or even Turkiye (sp?) would be glad to pick up that slot.

That was a fun qualifying. I'm glad to see McLaren showing out. Hope that carries over to the race.

Dude turned 15th in qualification to a 2nd place last race.
It's unorthodox, but until he doesn't make up for his quali sins, he's still got the seat. And he's still in 2nd overall.

The Red Bull dominance is shrinking. Max will continue to dominate, but Sergio is going to struggle for the rest of the season. He won't be in that seat next year.
I'm willing to believe it if the midfields can close the gap on RB going forward.
If RB reopens the gap, and he keeps finishing 2nd, he's still got a strong case. Still a long season.

Problem is who would you replace him with?
Verstappen still has another gear and made a point of saying so after quali today, but the gap is shrinking.

Elmer Fudd could turn a 15th into a podium in that car, and it was third. Charles got second.
It is pure luck that Max hasn't had any technical troubles that have cost him races. At some point it's going to catch him out, and Perez will be too busy fighting his way back to the front to pick up the pieces. Leaving Max alone to fight a pair of teammates is what got Gasly and Albon canned.
No one has any way to know if the gap is shrinking. RB hasn't gone flat out the entire season. It might be shrinking, but we won't have any way to know until Red Bull has to start giving it full beans.
And if Max pulling out a pit stop-plus lead after having to overtake first place in the very last race is shrinking, then god help F1.

If you yank him mid season the only feasible answer to this is DR showed serious improvement in the sim and his test drives. I don't know what Liam Lawson's situation is like. Maybe Alex Palou after the IndyCar season? Hell, pop Tsunoda up to the big team after RB has both championships sewn up and see what he can do.

McLaren should have gone onto the softs there but they were already committed when it changed from virtual to full safety car.
I no don't understand why they threw the VSC to start. It was obvious that they were going to have to have men and equipment on the track to clear that.
