Agreed, for as much as I bash Checo on here, I would vastly prefer him to be good. I will always love him for holding up Hamilton in Abu Dhabi, but I don't think RB wins the WCC in 24 with him. At first, it was Miami that broke him, but now the car has gone beyond what he can drive. There's no one to replace him right this second, but if this quali is the start of DR blowing the doors off that AT, there's a solid chance they make the move. If not, Checo will be on a short leash next season. RB already had four drivers to ready to go without Checo.

An epic failure, in my opinion. I feel like people only focus on Danny Ric's personality, and not his driving, which isn't any good, to be quite honest. He's an extremely inconsistent driver. I personally think Checo is better.

I actually agree with you. Every driver has a window of car that they prefer. Only a few can really adapt to any kind of car. I think it is being way underestimated how much more the Red Bull car is developed towards Max's preferences than it was in 2018. All they are really doing is taking a driver that has a window that he can drive best in and replacing him with another. People just like Ric's PR friendly personality and that is kind of unfair to Checo, imo. If he does not finish 2nd in the championship, it's totally justified, but he's 40 points up on Hamilton with four races to go...

Edit: I also posted evidence a few pages back that Checo has been able to beat Ric in inferior machinery.

Checo is defending the P2 right now, had Hamilton not been DSQ in Austin the points gap would be smaller. Imo this season is closer to 2020 where the Merc was a dominant and the only giy giving them a fight was Max, and Bottas wasn't really defending his P2 that much, he had more podiums than Max but around the same win ratio.

His qualifying has been ok he gains positions in the race, but we are talking a dominant car that hasn't needed any kind of upgrades for months, that shows how good it is. That's why I'm not buying that "he is still P2" thing because he has the car advantage yet still could lose on P2

I'm still baffled that Red Bull isn't picking up Lawson longer term. Kid came out on short notice and outperforms Ricciardo, but Ricciardo gets the RB seat? Makes no sense.

I am actually curious about their plans with him. He lost out on the Super Formula title this morning. Final round just like with DTM in 2021.

I like Lawson a lot, but sometimes I wonder where would he be had Juri Vips not said a racial slur

Juri Vips was the main RBJT driver, was definitely better than Lawson (and I always preferred Lawson, but Juri was always more impressive). I would go ahead and say Juri was definitely better than the top juniors Red Bull has right now (Iwasa ans Hadjar).

During a twitch stream with Liam, Juri said the n word, don't think he did it in a malicious way, but fans got ahold of it and prompted Red Bull to take action. He was sacked before Silverstone and Liam was promoted to Red Bull reserve driver.
