I wondered if the manhole is too high so that if the car goes over it just right and bottoms out that'll damaged the floor instead of sparking when just rubbing pavement.

Following an FIA inspection, it was found a concrete frame around a manhole cover had failed during FP1.

I was just watching FP2 while eating breakfast and the commentators made it sound like no fans were allowed in the stands, like they sent everyone home or something. They didn't elaborate. Does anyone know what happened?

In my head, I am hearing John Hammond's speech from Jurassic Park about how when they opened Disneyland, nothing worked.
Hopefully, everything can recover from a poor start so that this doesn't become the biggest F1 premiere disaster.
Come to think of it though, probably nothing can be worse than their "parking lot" race from many decades ago.

For Sainz, did he go over the PU or transmission allocation for the year with the change? If so, while unfortunate, I don't have an issue with the penalty. At this point in the season, it's a risk for all teams.
I know it's fun to joke about Ferrari miscues but damn, that's messed up. Looking at the damage to the vehicle, he or someone else could have been seriously hurt.
It's a PU change for Sainz. Tough luck.
