The 1997-2005 Astros and the 2010-2016 Rangers were the best runs of either team in the state.


Astros 1997-2005
- 1 Pennant
- 4 division titles
- 2 wild card
- 2 LCS appearances

Rangers 2010-2016
- 2 Pennants
- 4 division titles
- 1 wild card
- 2 LCS appearances

Both of those are respectable but compared to many other franchises both of our histories sucked.

- 4 Pennants

Even the most biased rangers fan can step back and say "wow this is an incredible run of success". And you can't say it's in the past because it's still happening..

And many Astros fans like myself believe the window is open through about 2025/2026 given we re-sign Altuve and Bregman.

No the Astros are not "baseball royalty" and I wont claim we are when you have about 10-15 teams with more titles and history than we have. But right now we have been the best franchise in baseball for 7 seasons. A good comparison to me would be Clemson football. Zero history before 2015, and then a mainstay in the playoffs for about 6 years.

That is a pretty broad generalization and not exclusive of Astros fans. Segments of all fan bases talk sht about other teams. I have a well documented track record on the Astros thread calling pots/kettles. It cracks me up when someone says OMG, the rangers thread is all about us (attempting to make our thread about you, such hypocrisy).

The same could be said about your post, talking about how much fanbase A talks sht about fanbase B, is in fact talking sht about fanbase A and demonstrates a high level of obsession with fanbase A.

There are ******bags in every fanbase, but we are all in fact Aggies, so the general level of douchbaggery among ourselves should be fairly low. But if you ask a longhorn or red raider, they would tend to believe the level of ******baggery is significantly higher than we believe. You see, that is how fans work, they look for confirmation biases and make broad generalizations about other fans. So you are me, and I am you, we just wear different color hats.

We care to make this series interesting? I propose the losing franchise has their official 2024 thread OP by a delegate from the winning franchise. After that, same rules apply, no cross posting on threads outside of the OP of the losing franchise thread.

We select our delegate now on our own thread if we can agree on this bet. We need a consensus before gametime tomorrow and no secondary thread next year to avoid your losing punishment or be forever branded a coward.

Well the Rangers barely have one as it is, just a smattering of posts about how the Astros are the worst, so that seems like a pretty disproportionate risk for Astro fans who actually engage about baseball, and boobs.

But on a serious note, that is not going to be honored since Aggies are going to talk about their favorite MLB team

I made the proposal, I don't speak for the board, I am just a minority player in this with an idea. Your proposal will not be honored and is unenforceable (TexAgs will not delete a thread started by someone who didn't know/doesn't agree with the bet). But if the primaries off each group agree to an OP posted by the opposition and post only on that thread, then any imitation threads will just fade away.

Maybe we make the bet the official offseason thread instead of the official 2024 thread. As soon as the series is over, winning franchise gets to create the official offseason thread, my only request is the thread title be *****Official (team) 2023-24 Offseason thread*****,leave the ribbing part in the OP, not in the thread title. This way the punishment is immediate and concluded ready to start the 2024 season with a fresh slate.

Not even sure why that guy posts on this thread. He says we are all trash, and chose not to walk back that statement when confronted.
