My grandfather (class of '69) died the Friday of that weekend from a farming accident. He took me to my first Astros game in 2002, and he's the main reason I've been a fan ever since. He used to get me personally signed cards from guys like Berkman, Biggio, Larry Dierker, and Jose Cruz and I totally took it for granted. Knowing he couldn't see us win it all tore me up. And despite this being the only team I've ever truly cared about, I couldn't have cared less about winning at that point. I got back to College Station from Houston that Sunday night, and reluctantly decided to watch game 5 just to get my mind off everything.
All that to say... if I ever needed a Game 5, it was that night. I sat in my apartment alone just screaming my head off every time we scored. The Altuve 3-run homer has to be my favorite Astros moment ever. As if it wasn't everyone's favorite game already, this one couldn't be any more special to me. Hopefully by the time I see my gramps again, we'll have a few more championships to talk about.

The bullpens were terrible but it was Kershaw who gave up the 4 to tie it. Pretty sure the lead he gave up was the largest of any of their pitchers.

I just told my wife it's great to be able to watch this game sitting down on the couch relaxing and not pacing relentlessly and screaming at my tv.

Rich Hill started game 6 and didn't appear in game 5. Brandon Morrow came in and gave up 4 runs though. And Maeda a few too
Poor Brandon Morrow (but not really). He was absolutely gassed and had no business being available. That was bound to end in disaster.

I hear you. I went to the game alone. I happened to get a seat next to a fellow Ag by chance.
I love to tell fellow Astros fans about the experience. It is easily one of my top 5 life experiences.
I looked back at the box score. Amazing to think all this offense happened with Josh and Marwin both going 0-5.
If it wasn't opening day, Reddick might not face Hamels, but since it's opening day, that lineup looks accurate. Reddick has also been hitting much better versus lefties. I wouldn't be surprised to see a good game from him tomorrow.
That's a big outfield. I like Reddick's speed out there.
