There was a sign on the Carps restaurant downtown Bryan (old Casa Rod location) today that stated, "Opening again Friday 10/2." That's First Friday. Wishing them luck!

Not an affluent area, but they don't have any competition from Dutch Bros or Starbucks (yet) on that stretch of road

I'm surprised they didn't go closer to the bypass with all those fast food places.

That is the area that's unserved lot of traffic. It will do very well high traffic count.

Just a quick search on the demographics of coffee shop patrons tells me the top consumers are:
  • Students
  • Young professionals
  • Health-conscious consumers
  • Remote workers
  • Seniors
A majority of coffee drinkers brew at home. Also, most coffee shop patrons are middle to upper income brackets.

So, the comment about it being an interesting location is accurate IMO.

Go sit outside a Dutch Bros. Every single demographic gets in line there.

7 Brew will likely do fine on HWY 21.

Look where Dutch Bros decided to place their locations.

Overhead is small for those coffee shacks and they sell every product for $8+. Minimal customers needed to make a profit.

The farthest north I can think of is the Dutch Bros on Booneville

Incredible how fast they can put up a location. I bet we get more in BCS in the next few years.

"We build a building a week," said Dennis Dickson of Creative Modular Construction. "From raw material to get it ready to ship. So a week ago, this building was (only) parts. And now it's placed. Typically after the guys polish it out and the concrete and everything sets, it is about six weeks. "In six weeks, they'll be selling coffee."

So, next door to the Murphys Gas?

Looks like they are cleaning that lot up, but it's pretty big.

Dave & Buster's, the ultimate entertainment, restaurant, and sports-watching destination, kicks off the opening of its newest location at 1502 Harvey Road, Suite 100, College Station, TX with a city-wide flag hunt and exclusive rewards. Five lucky winners who track down the Dave & Buster's hidden flags around College Station will receive an invite to the VIP Preview Party and a $100 gift card.

The new 30,000 square-foot entertainment and restaurant hub features the latest arcade games, a chef-crafted food menu, handcrafted drinks, a state-of-the-art sports bar featuring a massive "WOW" Wall, and a Human Crane experience. Guests can eat, drink, play, and celebrate all in one place.
Leading up to opening day on Monday, October 26, 2026, the College Station team invites the community to search for the five hidden Dave & Buster's flags across the area. From Tuesday, October 13, through Saturday, October 17, 2026, the brand will release clues daily on www.daveandbusters.com/collegestationfindtheflag to hint at each flag location.

Each day, one winner who finds a flag will receive a $100 gift card and an invitation to Dave & Buster's exclusive VIP event for five. This private celebration offers a sneak peek at the brand-new College Station location and a chance to enjoy the fun before it opens to the public.

"We wanted to do something interactive and fun that gets our future guests out exploring the city and building anticipation with us," said General Manager Matt Shoemaker. "Hiding these flags is our way of kicking off the celebration early, and we can't wait to welcome the winners through our doors for a first look at everything we have to offer."

Finding a flag entitles the winner to a $100 gift card and a VIP invite with five guests. You can only win one flag. Not combined with any other offers. Other restrictions may apply. See store for details. Void where prohibited.

For more information, daily clues, and full contest details, visit www.daveandbusters.com/collegestationfindtheflag.

I haven't seen anything on their Instagram account, but the old Peas in a Pod daycare center on Barron had signage up for Donna's Quilting Respite when I walked past today. They're currently just across Fitch in the same center with Vitality Chiropractic (where Urban Table is/was).

Hopefully it will be as difficult to get in and out of as their Villa Maria location. Is that part of their business model as well?

There's a new mall Chinese place open. Asia Wok. Didn't try it, just noticed it today.

"mall Chinese" = a 100% lock this poster will never try it himself.
Just let us know how good it is when you do, Trouble!

FIRST, UNDERSTAND THAT MALL CHINESE IS IT'S OWN SPECIAL THING. Pretty much, you like it or you don't. For mallrats of certain age, it's like crack.

That said, Asia Wok is decent. Big portions. Decent prices. I'll probably have it again but not anytime soon. It's not as good as the previous mall Chinese place we had.

No sweet and sour chicken. Orange chicken is overly sweet with no spice. Honey chicken was good but nothing special. Fried rice was good and not overly greasy. Pepsi products which if it was anywhere else would be a kiss of death but I'm getting a drink from Taste of the Tropics anyway.

Back in the day, I ate Mr. Ping's Chinese fast food in the convenience store on Wellborn for the exact same reason. It's luxury student housing now.

And Manchu Wok was both. That's how it stayed open for 30 years.

Oh and the new place doesn't have fortune cookies or a discount price for adding a spring roll to your meal. I realized that after I left.

They must have made these changes before they announced them. My wife and I tried going for the first time during dinner hours a couple of weeks ago and they were closed. No announcement that I could find online anywhere.

There was a recent poster on Nextdoor who says they're in negotiations to lease the former Urban Table location and open a cafeteria-style restaurant with a bakery, and use the upstairs for catering events and weekend brunch. They hope to open before Thanksgiving.
