Random question, has BCS ever had a dueling piano bar?

Not that I can recall. I went to one in Miami one time for work, and it was really cool.

I think downtown Bryan could use one.

Loved going to Howl at the Moon in San Antonio when we were playing in the Alamo Bowl games. Those dueling pianos were a blast.

Downtown Bryan is closer to an actual entertainment district than Northgate could ever pretend to be. If there was ever a comedy club to open in town it'd be Downtown Bryan.

In other news, signs for Teriyaki Madness have gone up in Jones Crossing where Smoosh used to be.

2nd trip to Madden's. It was awesome again. We will be regulars now. I don't know why it's not more crowded.

Madden really turned some folks off including my wife during and after COVID with social media whining. My wife used to go to Mad Taco 1-2x per week, and now we won't go to any of their restaurants. Lots of other places found creative solutions and they just kept whining and asking for donations.

The Corner had one on Sunday nights a decade or so ago. Had a blast, sad it's gone.

It did get to be a beating.

Blue Baker showed people how to do business during COVID.

Roadhouse too with their family meals to go's. Our local RH actually set the pace for all the others as ours dropped the price by half and sold a ton of them.

Absolutely! When I talk case studies with students on business in dynamic environments, I always bring up Blur Baker

We bought eggs and milk at Blue Baker during Covid.

A couple of things from the College Station new development list:

1) theres more permitting submissions for the baseball project in Midtown
2) there's a restaurant and bar called Pinki's Tavern planned for the Aspire Reserve building opening soon at Wellborn and University. I couldn't find anything online about the restaurant, so it doesn't appear to be a chain. The schematic submitted shows a dining area, a bar area, patio, and space for a pizza oven.

Don't forget Chef Tai. That guy whined more than Peter but people like to overlook it.

I really enjoyed Chef Tai's food truck when he would park it in locations in BCS that wasn't on TAMU campus. When he started only being on campus and really pushing his perceived celebrity status, I was really turned off.

Only went to Veritas once (it was OK), never went to Solt, and haven't been to Kanji Sushi. Maybe he has changed? Just not sure I want to try him again.

We liked Solt but after three times in a row of not being able to get our order right, coupled with tiny portions, it just wasn't worth the expense and effort.

It was great back in the day when I could visit his food truck and pick up dinner at Tower Point, when there weren't many restaurants on that end of town.

Also picked up lunch in the St. Joe's parking lot behind the cancer center once after getting a blood draw and port flush. Very convenient.
MyNameIsJeff

My only gripe with him was closing one of his restaurants (Veritas? I can't keep track) blaming covid reasons and then almost immediately announcing a new concept in the same location.

Kinda like Amico Nave closing due to "medians" and then the grant being awarded and Shipwreck moving to that location.

There's likely more to each story than I am aware of, but both came across as a little sketchy/dishonest.

Probably not a popular opinion, but Chef Tai lost us when he hosted the drag nights at the restaurant.

I loved the food truck like was said above, but then he made it inaccessible unless you wanted to go on campus.

I think that I asked before, but I've seen a lot of activity at the old archery place on South College. Anyone have any insight?

Never knew there was an archery place aside from whatever TAMU has at the Rec.

There is another one that opened on Hwy 30 recently. Came up from Houston area. Texas Archery is the name I believe.

Are you talking about where Sullivan's Outfitters used to be? (Under the big moose!)

I assume we're talking about Live Oak. It was behind Chicken Oil before moving further north into a new building 4-5 years ago. I think they just closed for good.

Or, the old Denim and Diamonds place (north of Villa Maria)?

You mean the old Graham Central Station?

Multiple correct and wrong answers there. The old Live Oak, where the Graham Denim Central Diamonds Station used to be.

The old moose still lives out there by the old Live Oak building...

Looks like the TacoBar Express was not long for the Chevron at S College and Villa Maria. Went in this morning and it is Kailani's Taqueria. Went ahead and got a taco anyways, and it was like biting into a salt lick (and I'm not sensitive to salt usually).

A ton of land was cleared at the corner of 2818 and west Villa Maria. Anyone know what's going in there?
