I think that Burger Boy used to use bicycles, but a lot has changed since then.

Indeed. According to an article in December 1996, 90% of the business was done by bicycle delivery. Burger Boy had extremely cheap in those days ($650 a month for what I can probably guess was a 500 square feet space, about half of what other storefronts were renting...and Northgate was actually cheaper than other parts in town, Brian Lippman moved his store to Northgate because it was cheaper than Culpepper Plaza)...but it's logistics too.

The campus delivery worked because you could actually deliver to someone's door in those days, now they have to go out to you, which drives up times and makes that model completely unfeasible.

If they ever do cap University drive and do a small, local access road at grade like has been proposed, some timed/enforced street parking would do wonders for the businesses on the ground floor of these buildings. Maybe restaurants aren't the best idea for these locations in current conditions. The CVS next door doesn't seem to be hurting.

Any potential construction would do a lot of damage to businesses on Northgate. But...they did offer on-street parking in front of the Chicken and others until that ugly fence went in.

I'm not sure about just how much CVS is winning or losing. It might actually generate decent foot traffic, along with CVS' propensity for light staffing...and probably less shoplifting too. But the reality is they're locked into a lease, and the fact that they're remaining open doesn't really indicate much. If they were REALLY losing money hand over fist then they'd probably close it and just eat the rent. If they were in a 15-year lease contract, then that could be up next year.

As far as New Development goes, it looks like Hampton Inn wanted to go with a blue-accented hotel but College Station has mandated it must be in shades of tan.

At least it's not Santa Fe, NM, where everything has to look like a fake adobe Pueblo….

That's kind of a big deal. That place always has a line. Here is Laynes chance to solidify it's chicken finger dominance

I just cannot with Layne's anymore. I feel like it has gone so downhill.

Yep, I used to be fully on the Layne's bandwagon. I lived on chicken strip sandwiches when I was in college lol.

Now, I think Cane's is far superior. Layne's service usually seems grumpy, and they take forever to put together a chicken strip meal that tastes like it was prepared hours ago.

The original Laynes was never good. Never understood the obsession with that place, unless you liked dried up, over fried little pieces of chicken served by angry people.

However I will say that the franchise locations in Houston are actually good and worth going to.

A barcade. It's a bar with a bunch of arcade games meant for adults only. Others I've been to have been actual cabinet arcade games and not newer games.

Bryan - Hamilton Unit

Looking at the expansion plans for the J. W. Hamilton facility feels like deja-vu. The TDCJ has plans for a $21.5 million 400-bed expansion at 200 Lee Morrison Ln. in Bryan. The square footage, construction timeline and design firm is also the same as listed for the Montford Unit expansion.

Hamilton Unit currently has capacity for 1,166 inmates and employs 256 staff members on a 350-acre property. Constructed in 1996, the facility is a pre-release facility for male inmates, meaning it focuses on job training, substance abuse recovery and rehabilitation, according to the TDCJ unit directory.

The two I've been to were decently busy. They are definitely younger (45 and below) crowds. It's a bar first and foremost.

No, Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 are some of the GOATs, and I would definitely play them in a gaming bar.

Yes. The new owner converted it to a Miami Vice themed 80s bar (no idea who asked for that) and now wants to try this game sports bar thing. Maybe it will succeed. Maybe it won't.

Went to Madden's tonight for the first time.

Loved the food. Loved the drinks and desserts.

Loved the staff. Girl was awesome. She made some great recommendations. Explained the history of Peter and about the new place opening. Said she couldn't give out the name but I believe it's already out on here. She also said it was her last week but will still work when if they are short-handed.

We will be back that's for sure.

I forgot to ask. Do they do brunch?

How long have you lived here ? I thought Chris killed it his first 5 years. After that some lack of awareness about staleness and improving alternatives set in. Last 5 years a rejuvenation and second prime time has been pretty good. Would choose it over all the expensive loud choices any day. Service is consistently good. I remember how odd it seemed to have all that work done on an old house on 158 seemed back in the day.

Not sure why the server thought the new place was a secret. Rosie's Pasta Bar and Catering was announced a few weeks ago. It will be in the former Costa Vida location. With this restaurant, and the new Mr G's concept nearby, it's nice to have additional options in Caprock Crossing.

Yes, loved it.
We've been here 5 years. My second tour of BCS though in 20+ years. Hopefully my last lol.
Spice was perfect for me. Even my daughter, who is developing her dad's palate, loved it. This brings me so much joy that I get a say in where we go now.
Service was exceptional.
We will be back. It's certainly top 5 for me.
I am ready for the new place to open. I love spicy Italian food. Part of my family is from the east coast and they make incredible spicy Italian food.

Not sure. I kinda took it as she worked there on and off but she really understood the history and understood the menu real well. Her recommendation for the wine was spot on for the dish. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I know enough to know which reds go with which dish from waiting tables back in the day.
Looking forward to the new place!

I have (had) a timeline somewhere. Essentially they were starting immediately following the last home game I think.

so in theory if there is home playoff game, that means mid December. So basically it's 2029
